I have a hitachi ultraview projection tv model #53UDX10B. this morning when i turned it on it was slightly double vision with red streaks running threw it. In taking the front off and cleaning all of the lenses and makeing sure the magic focus was in check, we noticed down in the red lens you could see a great deal of lines and streaking going on. the other two lenses did not have all this going on. what could this be?

Replace Both of the Convergence ICs they are big black ICs and will have Part # on them STK392-110s use 120s or 150s better ICs
Mats has them for 9.95 1-800-628-1118
Sounds TV got problem of convergence IC failure and you need to replace two ICs in convergence section. If you are familiar with TV repair and have soldering tools then can fix it by yourself or ask help to local TV tech.
set the convergence that should take care of the double lines, as far as too much red that sounds let your red bias is being driven to hard behind the speakers and the cover board you will find 3 knobs one of the knobs I believe the one on the left but it is labeled anyway that needs to be turned down ever so slightly and I mean slightly if you go to far up then it will shut the TV off and it may or may not come back on. so be careful when doing this
projection screens are prone to screen burn ,this is caused by the same image being displayed for a long time ie nick jr image in the corner, also check ther are no magnets close to the tv as this will cause distortion,ie speakers etc, hope this helps
the convergence IC`s and associated resistors have to be replaced, do not repeatedly push magic focus or the alignment after the parts change out will take longer which of course means higher repair bill, good luck
I had the same problem with the same model earlier this year. You need to have the convergence module replaced on a circuit board inside. Expect to pay $400-$500 to a qualified repair shop.
