I have the same issue and it is really frustrating. Sometimes it works and the pictures show up but then the next picture wont. I can't seem to find any pattern or reasons. Any advice would be appreciated.

    excatly the same problem...

also new pictures loaded into an existing folder are displayed asĀ unidentified image..

guess the config file has to be edited parallely

    how ?

don think its a memory stick problem .. jus config .. because the config files must be useful for indexing .. they too are necessary fr fast browsing and normal function !

How can I recover the unidentified image (in this case it was a movie). It played fine while the card was in the cameral. When I tried to load it to my computer, something happened to the card and now when I get to that picturemovie on the camera it says unidentified image rather than letting me play the movie. The rest of the pictures are fine.

    Please help.

I have the same problem with my Canon Powershot SX110IS. images dissapear with the notation "unidentified image". I brought my camera in to a local camera shop, and they were able to save the lost images. They told me I had an inexpensive, low quality memory card that is causing this problem. I upgraded to a high quality one and haven't had the problem since.

The way I encountered this problem was by turning the selecter wheel (Ixus 950is) and accidently sliding out the battery compartment at the bottom at the same time. When I went back to look at the pics, some were then listed as Unidentifoed Image. Odd thing is, it still shows a scaled down picture of the photo above the text?

I have a problem with images on a memory card that don't download on to Lightroom, or are not visible after the import has ended. see more detail below. please help.

Instead of downloading the pictures using Lightroom, make a file on your desktop. Copy and paste all of your photos from the memory card into the folder. Open the folder and change your computer's Finder (Mac) or Explorer (PC) to the thumbnail viewing mode. If all of the files show up there, try opening them from there. If not, let me know and we will proceed to step 2.

Find photo identification eg jpg number for each individual photo?

After downloading your images into your pictures folder, right click on the thumbnail copy of each picture, navigate to "properties" at the bottom of the dialogue box which appears when you click, and click on details in the next dialogue box and navigate down to the details you need.

Unidentified image, image too large

Try formatting the memory card (or changing it). You probably have some bad sectors.

If this does not help, take the camera to a Canon dealer, it's probably a software problem

I have had the same issue. There is some setting up on top that addresses this but I do not have the patience to look for it.

Unidentified images

You think you can try photo recovery software to see if you can rescue the lost photos or movies, here are some you may rely on. Both programs can also recover videos and music.

Photo Recovery Software (for Windows)
Mac Photo Recovery Software (for Mac OS X)

Be careful: Before your pictures and videos are recovered, do not attempt to save more files to the memory card in case the original files(your pictures) are overwritten.

Corrupted Pictures?

i suggest you always format the card in your camera every time you release it and use in your pc. card may get infected with virus and may affect the performance. never format card in pc! Better save pictures in hdd or cd than in mem cards.

Cannot View Uploaded File

try opening the photos with any other viewing software you have - paint, windows picture and fax viewer to name but 2. If you get the same results then the files are probably corrupt, and the probability is that your memory card could be causing the problem, try another card and see if pictures you take can be viewed. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the camera and the olympus software, it just might help. If this doesn't work please post again and we could give you some info on software for recovering corrupt and deleted files. Hope this helps :)
