Question about Canon PIXMA MP150 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Printer going offline

I have recently installed a USB 2.0 PCI card and switched my printer to it from the old USB 1.1 port. It has subsequently started going off line each time it is switched off. When it is switched back on, it remains offline and will only print after it is switched off, put online from the 'Printers & Faxes' folder and switched back on again. A minor inconvenience but I'd rather not have to do it! It didn't happen with the USB 1.1 port.
I've tried uninstalling and re-installing it using the original software. I've also switched off the power-saving opiton on the USB ports.
Any suggestions?

How long is you usb cable? don't use to much long cable. better to use only 1 meter. because too long may cause error to your printer to pc.

The printer won't print any print jobs sent to it. When checking it shows that it is off-Line and I have tryed retyping my network password into it with no results. I end up going back into it and...

1. This can happen if the printer is set to "USE PRINTER OFFLINE" under printer menu.
(Goto Printer & faxes+double click your printer+check in the printer menu)

2. The usb cable may be bad and needs to be replaced.

3. Try to use other USB port on your computer. (This will install another printer driver but will work)

4. Your USB port on your printer may be bad (This requires your Printer's formatter replacement)

Try step 1, 2 & 3 first to rule out the problem.

The printer will not print because the status is offline ,so how do I get to setting in or der to get the printer back online right now the status is offline

Printers do that only the two reason are there,
1- wrong configurations like wrong port in the preferences.
2- if the cable is faulty...

Go to control panel -> Printers and Faxes then right click of the printer that you are using and connected, the make sure that is 'set to default' then go to preferences and then ports and make sure its in usb001 or any other assigned port that is seeing usb.
Otherwise make sure you replace the cable first.
Hope that helps

Will a USB2.0 port installed after purchase support Pixma MP610?

Somebody might have been confused or perhaps there is was a different issue as well. USB 2.0 is backward compatible. The printer should work on either, but with decreased performance on the USB 1.0. The USB 2.0 PCI card is a true USB upgrade no matter your original config. Make sure your PC otherwise meets the min requirements for the printer.

I have an old hard drive tower. I bought a printer today and the UBS cable is not compatible. How can I get the right cable?

Check the back of the printer, is there a another connector or only the usb?

if the printer has only usb, you would need to buy a usb card for your old tower
You would need to look inside your tower and check if you have a white PCI slot available

heres what it will look like

And heres a USB - PCI card that will fit into the white slot giving you the USB connectors needed for the printer and everything else

New printer offline

There are two possibilities:
1 - It could be a dead USB port. Are your ports listed in the device manager? If not, they are problably disabled in the system BIOS.
2 - Is the printer plugged in the same USB port that you used when you installed it? Some printers (no names here... keeps lawyers at bay) do the funny thing of installing themselves as a new device, but keeping the other connection as the default (so you create a huge list of pending documents, and when you plug it in the right place, it will print for days). Try recreating your steps when you were installing the thing.

Hi There,

I think this may be something Win 2K is doing.
However, rather than power cycling the printer, simply removing the USB connection then replacing it should be enough to 'wake it up' (and save on dye film).

Check the power saving settings for your USB Root Hub;(Hardware/Device Manager/USB Controllers/ USB Root Hub/Properties/Power Management). Make sure the 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' option is NOT ticked.

Check also under 'Settings' / 'Printers', right-click on 'Magicard Printer Series', you should NOT see either 'Resume Printing' (printer is paused), or, 'Use Printer Online' (printer is offline).

Also, make sure you have the latest drivers installed. The Rio 2 / Tango 2 driver V6.01 is compatible with the 'older' Rio / Tango printer (even the non 'NP' models). You can download this here;
Make sure though that you select 'update driver files' and NOT 'add a printer' when prompted (restart is required). Port name should be 'NUSB01' when you see the list of available ports.

I hope this helps.
