Using movie maker to upload from JVC GR-axm17u (older camcorder) Got it hooked up to pinnacle usb device. I see the movie clip on my PC but the quality is terrible. Looks great on my camera as it is...

The USB device may be converting the footage to a very compressed codec.
Computer playback is not intended for interlaced footage as the camera produces so this may impact on the viewing.
Converting Compact VHS is best done with an Analogue to Digital Converter over a firewire connection rather than a USB device if you wish to edit in Movie Maker.

I want to get the video on my JVC GR-AXM17U VHS-C Camcorder to my computer. What do I need to make this happen

Software, Cables. Thats about it. There are a couple of ways to do it. If your JVC has a USB port & cable then using the software that came with the camera, OR downloaded from the manufacturers web site, install that, THEN connect the camera up, most likely it will show up as a "Drive" then you should be able to simply Copy & Paste your files as normal. Then once on PC you can manipulate them however you want. IF you have Composite Video & Audio OUT on JVC, and you have some method of getting Video & Audio INTO your PC, then you can also use this, Plug it all in, start your "Recording" software, then Press Play on JVC, You can get USB Video input dongles, 7 or, some video cards allow Video IN too.

Capturing vcr output on pc hard disk

When you are in shooting mode, Pull up the menu by pressing inward on the Menu/volume wheel, go to System Menu, go to Date/Time Disp, go to OFF, and press inward on the wheel again. EXIT.

You must shoot with the display and date/time off, otherwise it will be permenantly recorded on the tape.

In the case the encoder position is not shifted
to the next point though the loading motor has
rotated in the unloading direction for 4 seconds
or more. This error is defined as [E02].
1. The mechanism is locked during mode shift.
2. The mechanism is locked at the mechanism loading

JVC GR-DX25EK camcorder

JVC has issued a notice on many models that bring up a "lens cap" error. However, the GR-DX25EK is not included. The model you have posted on its page(GR-DX95) is though. This problem is still very common with models that aren't on the said list, given that and the fact that your model is from the same series, you might get some consideration from JVC. No harm in trying. The listed models get a free repair. Heres a link to the notice from JVC: Good luck
