Question about Maytag WD16 Top Load Stacked Washer / Dryer

1 Answer

Only rinses hot water

My Maytag only rinses with the hot water, even when I am only doing a cold wash. I have turned off the hot water inlet valve so see if it will rinse with the cold but to no avail. Any ideas as to what it may be?

Error code of NF (no fill) on samsung top load washer (WA422PRHDWR/AA) even after checking lines for restrictions and ensuring clean line filters (red and blue). Now, when it does work, it will only do a...

Put the temp select switch on HOT, start machine. If water comes out check the flow amount. If no water flow, replace inlet water valve. If there is water flow switch to COLD, start machine. If water comes out check the flow amount should be approximately equal or slightly more than flow on HOT. If no water flow, replace inlet water valve. Move selector to WARM, start machine. Now there should be twice the flow of water than there was with HOT and COLD temps. I suspect it is the HOT side of inlet water valve that has failed because machines usually rinse with COLD water.

The inlet valve on the cold water inlet is clogged, dirty or jammed. You need to remove the inlet valve and clean the valve and filter. use back flushing with brushing to clean the filter.
the hum you hear is of the coil working but is not opening to allow water into the system.
Also you can switch the inlet valve from the hot line if needed .
check this link for removing the inlet valve:

When turned to "cold" the

Rinse is always cold only on most machines. Why? Because rinse with hot water causes wrinkles. You have a bad cold water solenoid or fouled cold water valve innards from lime and such OR a clogged water valve inlet screen on the cold water side. Remove the cold water hose and check for blocked screen.

The washing machine won't fill up with water but it will spin. It won't rinse as well

try connecting the cold water hose to the hot water inlet on the machine then switch the water inlet to hot and see if the water starts to fill if it does then your cold water inlet valve is broken and needs to be replaced

My Maytag Neptune FAV6800 washing machine overfills on the rinse cycle. Pulling the electric power does not stop the water flow. I have to turn off the water at the faucet feeding the hose. It seems to...

If you pull the power to the machine and water continues to flow then the water inlet valve is stuck open. You will need to replace the water inlet valve. The Service manual will step you thru the process.

FAV6800A/FAV9800A Service Manual for reference. Sears Parts Direct for reference.

The water inlet valve is p/n 25001046 Substitution: 12002242 Water valve shop around for best price.

Is this Cold water inlet valve issue? If so and you only do Cold water wash/rinse like me you could switch the fill hose connections from hot to cold to hot at the faucet. Turn the hot water faucet valve off and select Warm/Warm temp selection and you will be filling with cold water wash/rinse. Maybe that would hold you over until you replace the Water Inlet Valve assembly.

You can check out your pressure switch transitions as I had this poster do for his issue at this link

His issue seems to be a definite stuck pressure switch not water inlet valve such as yours. Check to make sure your pressure switch is OK by watching the fill point transitions as I mention in the post.

If you machine is a series 12 or above the Low and Mid fill pressure switch transitions will toggle at the same time. Series 12 and above us a 2 level pressure switch. Series 10 and 1 use a 3 level pressure switch.

Good Luck………….. D*ick

It sound like the cold water inlet valve is faulty, the rinse cycle uses only cold water, and the water in the 'wash' cycle is probably hot.You need a new inlet valve, which on your machine is probably a double hot/cold unit.If you can't get a new inlet valve, a handyman/electrician may be able to change the wiring to use the 'hot' inlet valve for cold water which will allow the machine to wash, and rinse, using cold water through the hot valve..Tikka?...Good luck...Nomess

The machine will only fill with hot water. I have switched the feed lines and even turned off the cold water and gotten the same result. Is this a bad solenoid?

Your COLD inlet valve is faulty. By swapping the hoses you have cold water coming in via the hot inlet valve. However, most machines will only rinse with cold water, but your machine thinks the water is hot. won't rinse! Replace the cold valve or change the wires from the cold to the hot valve...Some electronic machines can be damaged by doing this. Non electronic machines could be ok...Good luck....Nomess

Maytag performa washer hot/cold cycles reverse, hooked up correct

This sounds like a cold water supply problem that's usually caused by a problem at the water inlet valve. First, remove the water supply hoses and check the small screens inside the water inlet valve. Make sure they are not clogged with rust or debris. Next, check the solenoids using a multimeter or ohmmeter. Check for continuity. A lack of continuity indicates a faulty solenoid and the water inlet valve assy will need to be replaced. I will attach a photo for reference. Hope this helps and best wishes.
