It is not so much the freezer motor icing up but the drain trough that takes the water from defrost down to the pan.Possibly your drain trough is clogged and needs dethawing and cleaning.

Hi I have a GE Fridge Model Number GTS18HBSW and it just started to make this loud noise. seems like it is coming from the fan or back of fridge only 3 years old. Any suggestions

Any noise in the fan needs to be corrected soon. It could be something trapped there or it could be something is wrong with the fan or the fan blades. To lose the operation of that fan will stop cooling and chance damage to the compressor from over heating. I recommend that you unplug and pull away from wall. Remove cover that covers compressor and fan and find what is causing this to prevent further damage. Let me know what you find and if you need additional help please let me know, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Fridge and freezer on GE GSS25SGMDBS not working

see if the compressor motor is running

The compressor is a football-sized case with no apparent moving parts. It's on the outside of the refrigerator at the back near the bottom. If it is humming or making a continuous noise and your refrigerator is still not cooling, there may be a more serious problem with one or more of several different components, we recommend contacting a qualified appliance repair technician for further help.

If the compressor is not running but you do have power to the refrigerator, there may be a problem with one or more of these:

  • The compressor

  • The Thermostat

  • The overload, relay, or capacitor

  • The defrost timer

  • The condenser fan motor

LG Fridge making intermittent sound - like something hitting fan

GAIN ACCESS TO THE FAN IN THE FREEZER(EASIER SAID THAN DONE) AND INSPECT THE FAN BLADE AND FAN SHROUD. HAVE REFRIGERATOR TURNED OFF AND MANUALLY ADVANCE FAN BLADE. WATCH FOR SLIGHT CONTACT BETWEEN THE FAN BLADE AND OTHER OBJECTS NEAR IT-ELECTRICAL WIRING, FAN SHROUD, ICE CYCLE,ETC. ADJUST FAN BLADE OR OBJECT TO INCREASE CLEARANCE.
