Flash I know when taking a pic, according to the lighting the flash is automatic; however, it never turns on. Maybe I can do it manually, but not sure how.

Re: Flash

When in the auto setting, press left (I think - if not try up, down or right) on the circular button... this well amend the logo on the left hand side of the screen, One is like a bolt of lightning with 'a' for automatic, crossed out for not at all, and the sole bolt of lightning is premantly on. Using the up button on the circular button (or alternative) will amend the red eye light on or off. Turning this off will enable to take photo's quicker

How do i turn the flash off

Welcome to FixYa.

The FORCED OFF mode is the setting where flash is not activated in any recording condition. this mode used when taking pictures in places where the use of the flash is not permitted.

There are other 5 different mode/setting in using photo flash.

1. AUTO - flash automatically activated according to the recording condition.

2. AUTO/Red-eye reduction - flash is automatically activated according to the recording condition. It reduces the red-eye phenomenon by triggering the flash before actually recording the picture. After that, the flash is activated for actual recording again.

3. FORCED ON - use the when your subject is back-lit or under fluorescent light.

4. FORCED ON/Red-eye reduction - use this when you set the camera to PARTY MODE

5. Slow sync./Red-eye reduction - use this when you take pictures of people in front of a dark background.

I hope this solution will help you. Just send us you comments or suggestion if this solution was helpful.

Thank you for using FixYa.

My camera doesnt take pics @ night Maybe flash

First make sure that the camera has fresh batteries. Then see that the flash setting is either 'on' or 'auto' or any graphic mode like a lightning bolt.
If this doesn't help, the flash might be damaged. Any camera shop can check this quickly.

My flash is not working

Change your batteries, the light should not be orange, but a brighter shade of red, or maybe GREEN.

I get a warning which says *Battery Exhausted*. I've replaced them but still get the warning.. Any idea whats wrong?

earlier i posted solution in similary problem. maybe help you this.

solution is good batteries, Ni-Mh or Lithium, rechargeable only not alkaline. but...problem is how long you watch pictures on lcd display or how much is flash in use. if always by shooting pics used flash that means that you can with best batteries 30, 20 or less pics shooted. and of course, if you connect camera with pc, how long is cam on? just transfer pics on pc and turn the camera off. the best solution is use the card reader for pics transfering.
if is flash off, it's possible to shot 120-150 pics with Ni-Mh. with lithium i don't know, maybe 500 pics. don't use camera lcd for analysing pics it's just there for short preview.
with alkaline batt., very low quality, i shot 30 pics without flash.

i shot also very good pics at night without flash. nikon coolpix L15 can do that but you must have more praxis. alkaline batteries shooting!
after 3 pictures on display is message: warning! the battery is exhausted. what you can do? turn the camera off. wait about 10 minutes. turn the camera on, you can shot 3 or 5 pictures and than turn your camera off again.
you can repeat this few times and you be lucky if you 30 pics captured:)
REMEMBER: all this goes without camera flash!!!
flash and every zooming use more battery power! and that was all magic:).

The red light is probably the focusing beam. I'd guess that your flash is turned off somewhere in your settings. Go through the menu and if you find that it is not turned on there might be a hardware problem. Also, if the flash is set to automatic, it will not work when it thinks there is enough light to take a good pic.

Need help w/ night pics at softball games

On camera flash will not help in out door sports facilities. If you have maxed the ISO and set it to Aperture priority -which will slow the shutter down and give you camera shake and blurred images as the players dart about- Ho Hum you ain't going to win this one. Buying a bolt on flash I doubt will be powerful enough either, take what you can and get to grips with a good image editor- Though I guess the results will still be 'noisy'

Flash detail

Use the right arrow button on the arrow pad. There is a little pic of a lighting bold beside a pic of a camera on the top left hand corner. Push the right arrow button and look at that lightning bolt you will see it changing. There are three different ones. One has a ling through it and that means no flash on had an "A" on it that stands for automatic and then you will see just a pic of the bolt without anything. Not to sure what means either. Hope this helps.

Camera switches itself off after flash !

Use your warranty ASAP. I heard of 5600's that have problems with the flash - long recharge time, turning off after taking a picture, etc. This is not a setting thing you can adjust, or anything that you caused yourself, but a lemon. Take it back to the shop and ask for a replacement, and in no way agree to pay for a repair, it's not your fault. Good luck
