when you say you line an object up - is that using the optical viewfinder on the top of he camera (the prism) or do you mean the LCD panel on the back of the camera.

Meaning of black box In left corner of samsung sl605

Page 17 of the manual says the black box in the left top corner is the recording mode icon. In this icon you can see what menu you have chosen in the recording mode. In the left bottom of the display is the icon for the drive mode. It tell you if you are taking single pictures continues mode or are taking 5 frames per second (max 30 frames) or taking 3 pictures and compining the three.

Pictures come out blurry if any movement

The most likely culprit is a slow shutter speed. If the subject moves while the picture is being taken, you'll see it blur. If non-moving objects show up sharp while the moving objects are blurred, then this is definitely it.

Another possibility is camera movement. Try putting the camera on a tripod or a table or other steady support, then use the self-timer to take a picture. If everything in the picture is blurry, then this is probably the reason.

The third possibility is that the camera isn't focused on the subject. Try taking a picture of the subject when it isn't moving and see what happens.

When I take a picture of an object - like a knife or magazine book etc - there will be a glare on the picture either in the center or the bottom how do I stop that.??

I had this same problem. You can' t take the pic directly above it you have to angle your shot. Eventually I figured out that it was easier to shut off the flash and just use a secondary lighting source like a couple lamps.

Canon 1400 IS: When I take a picture using flash of a close up object, a shadow is cast on the lower right corner of the picture. For pictures that are not taken close up with flash, or taken from further...

It's most likely the shadow of the lens. The flash is above and to the left of the lens, so the shadow of the lens will be to the right and below.

How to see date of taken pictures ?

It may depend on the brand of digital camera, but on my canon you go to 'menu' scroll down to 'Info Disp' (you get a choice between Off, standard and detailed) If you choose standard you get the date and time the picture was taken in the bottom left hand corner. Hope this helps.

Pictures are blur

Hi,

Your pictures are blurry because the camera did not focus properly on the subject.

First, turn on the camera in any picture taking mode (or video mode), then look at the screen or viewfinder. There should be four white corners in the center of the camera display. This is your targeting area.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Aim the camera at your subject so this center area is directly on it.

2. Press the shutter button lightly, not all the way down. Wait for a second or two WITHOUT RELEASING YOUR FINGER. If the white corners turn green, keep the finger on the button and press it all the way.

(Once the screen flashes black, a picture is taken and you can release the finger).
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If the targeting area turns red and blinks, then the camera has not focused. You can to try to focus again by following step 1 and 2. If a picture is taken when the targeting area is red, then the picture will be blurry.

If there is no targeting area, then you can still focus by aiming the camera at your subject. Now follow step 2. A green box will appear on the subject, then a sharp picture can be taken.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The red arrow that flashes means that the pictures or videos are being written onto the memory card.

Also, try to be steady when taking pictures, because slight hand movement can cause blurry images too.

Page 25 in the DMC-FZ7's english manual will also explain how to focus.

Canon powershot SD750

Hi

Very odd... sounds like the camera is just in a power save mode and should still work.

Try pressing the "Disp" button, does the LCD turn on? Press it again after a second.. does it all now turn off? Press it once more and the LCD should turn on again.

If this doesn't work, then one of two things is most likely wrong. Your CCD is bad, or the aperture in the lens is stuck closed. Either problem requires the lens to be replaced, and no camera shop or store will do it for less than $150-200.

If the aperture is stuck no light is getting in the lens so there is nothing for the camera to record, but you can still see the menus and old pictures just fine. If the CCD is bad, the light is getting in but the camera can't convert it to a digital signal that it can record.. so once again you can still see the menus and old pictures but you can't take any new ones.

I've been building an AFFORDABLE digital camera repair business (Google Darntoothysam) for several years now, I'm just trying to reach people I can help. We offer a lens replacement package for about $70 in our store, you won't find a price like that anywhere else!

If you can use us, please let us know. Even if you don't use our services feel free to ask questions if needed.

Good luck from Darntoothysam com

Why is part of a picture missing?

The cause and solution may include one of the following: Something was blocking the lens when the picture was taken. Keep hands, fingers, or other objects away from the lens when taking pictures. Your eye or the picture was not centered correctly in the viewfinder or LCD. Leave space around the subject when centering the picture in the viewfinder or the LCD.
