If the distributor hasnt been modified, then find # 1 on the distributor cap and plug wires in this order:18456273 and #1 cylinder starts on the passenger side in the front and the order on the cylinders is 1234 on the passengers side starting from the front of the engine and 5678 on the drivers side starting from the front of the engine,if the distributor has been taken out and turned at 1 time then put the crank on 0 degrees and pull off the distributor cap and locate where the rotor points,if it faces towards the rear of the engine then go ahead and follow the firing order i provided,if it faces towards the front of the engine then the crank is off 180 degrees so you would want to start the #1 plug wire exactly the opposite side of the distributor, then go clockwise with the firing order.

I have a 91 ford f150 4.9 a wire on the back driver side needs to be plugged in

We do not have wiring diagrams so have no way to ID this wire for you. If you wish to buy a used wiring diagram book you can get one here. It is very easy to use and is a series of diagrams of the different parts of the electrical systems

How to change spark plugs?

First go buy the new spark plugs. While you are there ask the gap of the plugs, they may need to be adjusted before you install them. If so use a gaping tool to adjust the gap. One at a time remove the spark plug wire and remove the old spark plug with a spark plug socket. Turn it counter clockwise. Pull it out and put the new spark plug in and firmly tighten it, dont over do it though you dont want to strip it out. Put the spark plug wire back on and move to the next until the job is complete.

Putting plug wires on a 1997 ford explorer awd that has no wires need diagram for placement

You dont need diagram. If you will notice there is seperate coils for each spark plug. you need 9/32 socket to remove each coil. Theres a small screw that holds the coil in place, Remove the srew, remove the coil, once you remove the coil take a spark plug socket and extension to remove the plug.On the end of each coil is a boot that looks like the end of a spark plug wire . You can buy a set of those boots.Do these one at a time. You can gat a book a auto parts store that could help for about twenty bucks. Hope this helps Leave comment

1988 F150 cranks / turns when trying to start but will not fire. it gets fuel, coil , ignition module changed, ingition unit on steeing wheel under dash has also been changed. acts like no combustion is...

no combustion or no compression? timing chain broke? you did not supply enough info about what you tested.or how. remove a spark plug wire if you dont like shcks take an old spark plug two alligator clips and a piece of wire attatch to the hex metal body of this old plug and connect the wire you just removed run the starter while watching for strong!!! spark.you can have a weak spark and no start=bad coil.i think but maybe wrong that this vehicle still uses aignition module located somewhere on the fender.find a parts locator maybe at the library. this module was aproblem for decades.have fun.

Change the spark plugs

there are 4 large wires at the front of the engine on the cylinder head, carefully remove them by twisting the rubber boots back and forth until they come off, under those are the spark plugs, u will need a 3/8" ratchet and a short socket extension with a 5/8" spark plug socket on it, put the socket over the plugs and remove them reinstall in reverse order, 10 minute job on an escort.
