Camera won't shoot with lens on Auto Focus

I have a Canon Digital Rebel Xti. The 18- 55mm lens will not shoot on auto focus, but will on Manual focus. The camera shoots fine with my other lenses. I have cleaned the contact points of the lens with an eraser, but not sure what else to do. :)

- It also has an auto focus setting, which worked until today.
