Replacing only the microwave in Jenn-aire oven combo unit

I have a combination microwave over oven unit. The microwave needs to be replaced and Jenn-aire says I must replace the entire combo unit at a cost of 3k +. Can i replace the microwave unit only with another brand?

I have the same problem with my GE microwave/oven combo unit, can the microwave be replaced alone??

Ditto for me. My husband is having a fit!! We may have to opt for a cheap countertop microwave. Spending $3K is not in our budget right now!!

It appears that the magnatron has failed on my M170B microwave. Has anyone found a good replacement that fits?

I have a old jenn air wall oven and a old jenn air microwave mounted on top. it was a countertop model. when i removed it it was plugged into the top of the oven. would that be a 110 appliance outlet?

The Jenn Air microwave that is mounted above the oven in your unit is 110v 60Hz. The socket in the upper rear right corner of the oven is a 110v 6Hz socket and is where the microwave would be plugged in. If you are going to replace the microwave, you can plug it into that socket. If you would rather not use that socket, you will have to drill a hole in the side of the cabinet holding the over/microwave to get the power cord out.

Jennair combo micro wall oven 30" replace microwave?

When a microwave is dead, the most common causes are a blown fuse, or a blown thermostat / thermal cutout / TCO on the magnetron or on top of the oven cavity.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

Accessing the oven cavity thermostat for testing and possible replacement will require you to remove the oven from the wall and take off the outer cover.

If so, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.

You can download Jenn-Air (Whirlpool) owner's manuals and installation instructions here.

take the trim off of the microwave and on the top of the oven on the right side all the way in the back there should be a reset button just like a surge protector.

Jenn-air microwave JMC 7000 ADB has no power

I have a different Jenn-Air built in microwave & oven combination but I'm sure my solution will work for you as well.

My microwave was plugged into an outlet located on the top of the oven. This outlet has a "circuit breaker" that tripped while we were using the self cleaning feature on the oven. You just need to reset the breaker button right next to the wall oven outlet. Why it tripped is a mystery since the microwave was not in use at the time. Bad design.

Of course, getting to the reset button is your only challenge. You need to pull the microwave and oven out of the wall/cabinetry in order to get to it. The unit is heavy so you will need help. Or, call a certified repairman and they should be able to do this for you in 30 minutes or less so the service call should not run you more than @$85 if it is no longer under warranty.

I would also suggest you contact Jenn-Air to complain about this issue and seek reimbursement from them if necessary.
