Question about Xerox DocuMate 252 Path-Through Scanner

Scanner excludes front page

This is driving me crazy!!! When I scan in multiple pages at once, about half of the time the scanner excludes the first page. I can get around it sometimes by scanning the first page alone, then add the others using the add pages button. I can also sometimes get it through by scanning the first page and then stick the second page in right before the first page finishes scanning. How do I get the scanner to scan all papers if I stick all of them in the feeding tray at once? Btw, I am only putting up to 3 pages at once. Thanks for any advice!

Re: Scanner excludes front page

This is not the only solution, but this might help.

Put a blank page in as the first page and see if all of your documents scan completely.

You may need to clean the ADF. Try the following:

Cleaning the Automatic Document Feeder
You may need to clean the ADF feed mechanism if your
documents do not feed easily into the ADF, or several feed in at the
same time.
To clean the ADF:
1. Dampen a soft cloth with some isopropyl rubbing alcohol
2. Press the ADF cover release on the top left of the scanner body
to open the Automatic Document Feeder cover.
3. Wipe the feed roller from side to side. Rotate the roller to clean
its entire surface.
4. Wipe the pad from top to bottom. Be careful not to snag the
cloth on the springs on either side of the pad.
5. Close the cover when you’re finished.
NOTE: Please be careful when cleaning the roller. The roller is
designed to rotate in one direction only. As you’re cleaning the
roller, make sure it rotates easily, and continue rotating it in that
direction while wiping it clean. Do NOT force the roller to rotate
in the opposite direction. Forcing the roller to rotate will damage
it, and may cause the scanner to feed pages incorrectly.

Please let me know if this has helped and thank you. Binary Bob

How to scan multiple pages in one pdf in hp 5300c scanner

To do this will take a few steps.

1. You need to install a PDF printer driver on your computerfirst. There are quite a few freeware PDF writer programs on the Internet youcan download one such as CutePDF.
To download Cutepdf PDF printer driver (freeware) click onthis link :-
2. Scan the first page then click on File - Save the image as a jpg file Eg. image1.jpg

3. Repeat the scan the next page and save the image file Eg. image2.jpg

4. Repeat step 3 for the other pages.

5. Close the scanner when finished scanning.

6. Open a Word document then place each image file on a new page in the Word document

7. Save the Word document (not necessary).

8. Click on File - Print then select CutePDF printer (or your PDF printer driver) and save the PDF file. This PDF file will contain the multiple pages of the scanned pages.

My scanner is now adding a page with a black line that runs from top to bottom of the page and the actual document scanned is page 2. But the document is fine with no line through it. Does this mean that...

Check your scanner software settings. It is probably set at duplex ever time you start to scan. That is why you get two pages for every pass, the front and the back. You must place the document in the feeder in a way that the front side of the document is page 2. You may want to flip it next time you scan. So the main question is why there is black line from top to bottom? That is because there is a piece of dirt stuck on the glass of the scanner. You see, this scanner actually does two scanning when a page runs through it: the front and the back in duplex mode. So there are two scanners in side the box. The front page scanner apparently is dirty and needs to be cleaned with clean cloth and lens cleaner.

Can't scan more than one page under one file

you need to check for updated drivers from the manufacturer's website as the "old" drivers may not be completely compatible with windows 7.

this often happens when changing operating system to a newer OS

Scanner is not reading multiple pages...

Check your scanning software settings. If you are getting only one file output, then you must have chosen 'multipage' option.

Scan a Multipage Document into a Single File

My scanner is a Cannon but the basic jist of what your trying to do is universal. You need to open up the software for the scanner and look for an icon that says scan to file. It sounds like you have already done this. If so you are very close in the step I mention to the setting you need to scan multiple pages into one PDF file. Once you find the setting to scan multiple pages be sure to not click "FINISHED" until your last page is scanned in.

I'm using a CanoScan LiDE 60 and I have no idea even how to begin. I need to scan in 5 different documents with numerous pages and I was hoping to create a pdf for each. Can you help me get started?

Use the CanoScan Toolbox that shipped with the scanner. If you don't have it, then download it from the Canon Website.

If you don't have the scanner driver, then download that too.

Once you have Toolbox installed and you open it, there will be a PDF button. The scan to PDF window will open. If you're planning to do a multiple page pdf, then click the dropdown menu next to 'Save as Type:' and select PDF (Multiple Pages). You're now ready to begin, insert your first page into and then click 'Scan'.
