"scan settings" is not functional, the preference button is not available in HP solution center while all other features work fine, therefore, unable to configure scan options. Same issue on both of my 6480 and 6310 all-in-one Officejet. Already installed all software with full features from CD and done all updates. Tried uninstall and reinstall several times, HP image service is running in startup, still problem persists. Anyone out there care to share the fix for this will be greatly appreciated.

- Thanks for your response, and you're right on track with your suggestions, except I already tried it. I've already done full uninstall several times including booting into safe mode to delete all Hewlett Packard entries from the registry, and ran HP utility cleaner to remove HP files, and removed all temp files, etc. ; I did install on another computer, and it works fine; So, I'm thinking maybe it's my computer's OS or System File, but what system file should I be searching for? Note that my computer can see the scanner in the device list, but HP solution center just repeatedly will not display scan setting options. Let me give a little history: This Officejet was working fine after the first install on my computer, then don't know what happened, the scan feature disappeared. So, I tried reinstalling, but so far nothing works. I'm hoping to find a solution without having to restore complete computer from OS CD. Does anyone know what files is associate to the HP "scan" functions to work? I'm open to any ideas. Thanks in advance.
I had the same problem and after spending more than 40 hours on the phone with tech support, it was determined that Adobe Photoshop is not compatible with hp solution center. You can open paint and scan with it.
hi rugby40294
Have you tried downloading the latest copy of the full software (including all drivers) from HP website, then installing from that. Obviously, fully uninstall previous drivers and HP centre files.
Also, you might consider installing it to an other PC/Laptop and see if you encounter similar issues.
