Problem for Dell Dimension 9200 PC Desktop

My Dell Dimension 9200 makes an accellerating

My Dell Dimension 9200 makes an accellerating noise when rebooting and the screen stays dark. I kill the power to stop it. I suspect that it is too hot and a fan is running full blast. This first started when it was over 90 degrees in this room but has been going on since temps are normal again. Once it occurs I have to wait a while before starting up if I want to get the starting screen rather than the noise I described above. I have added, long before this problem appeared, two extra HDs. Could that be the problem? Is there a way to check?

nice comp...
I had the same problem with my 9000...sounds like a plane taking off...lol
if its been a while, and im sure it has.. unplug tower and open the case...im sure there is alot of dust in there...its disgusting how much dust a comp gets inside...either use compressed air from a compressor or you can use a couple of cans of keyboard cleaner to get the dust out...do this outside your home as there will be alot of dust flying around....blow everything possible, from heat sink on CPU to the power supply and your video card, cooling fan and vents and anywhere else you see dust...hopefully that will keep you cool enough...
if not you will have to put a new fan on your CPU

The answer you are looking for is simple, you need to remove the heatsink and apply thermal grease to the top of the processor .The noise the fan makes is normal when it senses high temp,so if this still happens after applying the grease you might want to purchase a new heat sink.
Good luck

Most newer computers have temperature sensor inside the cabinet to save energy by slowing the cooling fans down, now when you reboot the computer has no control over the fans so they tend to start up fast and slow as the computer boots.
My HP does this when ever I turn it on or reboot, its pretty normal on my system and I have worked on many others that do the same.
Now if what you are saying is the fan drives hard and the screen will not come on at all, it could be a hardware issue, I have seen a few computers do this before in the past, if you unplug the power cord and leave it for a few minutes and plug in then try again it should boot normally, if this is the case it may need some attention by a qualified person to fix the issue.

First opencabinet of cpu.
Then refix RAM memory on motherbord.
Pull cmos cell for 10 minutes so all settings of motherbord defaults.
Then pull pci card if installed on PCI slot then check.
Also disconnect harddisk from motherbord then check if you get display?
Also refix processor fan and processor.
Some times motherbord grounding with cabinet so pull motherbord from cabinet then check in out side of cabinet.

Let me know if you need more assistanse.
Thanks.
