Re: Hotpoint Dryer TC71P

When replacing the dryer stats you always replace both because they come in a kit. And to check which one is blow you do a continuity test.. Thats what i alway do....

My hotpoint tc71p is buzzing and not working ?

If the belt is not broken it is the capacitor on the motor that has gone it is more than likely built into the motor .Which will need changing.

My hotpoint aquarius TCM570 dryer is only cold air is there anything i can check before calling someone out?

Your heater is protected with a thermal cut out.
With a multimeter you need to check that the thermal cut out has gone open circuit.
You also need to to check the heater itself.
Remove the rear panel of the dryer.
Behind there is the cowling that covers the heater. Once you take that off it will reveal the heater assembly of which you will see two thermal devices mounted on the top. One is a thermal fuse the other is the auto reset.
You need to check both of these.
If both thermostats and the heater check out ok then try an identify the thermostat located in the door way. Check this with your multimeter for open circuit.

Hotpoint Aquarius TCM570 - This unit is just over 12mths old!!! The heat function has ceased to work, it still spins etc but there is no heat. I've read on a previous posting relating to the same tumble...

Always disconnect power while working on easy, disconnect the two wires from the fuse, take black electrical tape and tape them together, test dryer if it works then disconnect taped wires and buy fuse install new fuse. Here is a website that should help, Tim:

Thermostats do not have a reset
IF the dryer has failed by overheating, the device is called a thermal fuse, it is a one-shot protector, and needs to be replaced.
If the thermal fuse has blown the dryer is likely {expletive deleted} with lint and needs to be cleaned.
STILL require make and model details for replacement instructions
