Question about Maytag MDE9700AYW Neptune 174 Electric Dryer
My dryer stopped working. The lights are on but I have no tumbling. The repaireman came and replaced the drum, rollers, mother board and something else. Closed it up and tried it, nothing. He said he thinks it is unrepairable. He never opend it back up or anything. Of course we are getting the runaround from the warranty company. We are 3 weeks out with 6 in the household. They said it could be 6-8 weeks for a response. My husband is tempted to open it up and see if he forgot to hook something up. He is very handy. He use to fix our old machines.
Thanks, Desparate in NY
My dyrer just stopped working one day. I've had the heating element checked, both boards and my electrical outlet checked but my dryer still doesn't work. All I get is a troubleshooting code that looks like an upside down F with a 5 behind it. If you have a solution to this problem please let me know Thank You.

If the dryer is not drying the clothes then you would need to check for the following things-
1. Inspect the fuses and circuit breakers they may have burned out or tripped. Usually, dryer will still tumble but not create heat if a fuse or a circuit breaker is not working.
2. Check for the amp reading at 240 V, it should have reading of 24, 21 and 3 amp (approx.) for 2 lines and neutral respectively.
3. Heating element may have turned or the connection to the element might be loose. Sometimes a shorted circuit element will keep on blowing the fuse or circuit breaker.
4. Motor wiring shorting to ground.
Hope this helps...
