Question about HP ScanJet 8270 Flatbed Scanner

1 Answer

Automatic Cropping... I want to scan multi-page documents on my HP Scanjet 8270 and have every page remain 8.5" X 11" after being scanned in.  I am using HP Solution Center, which came with the scanner. At this point I have turned off automatic cropping, yet the pages are still cropped right up to the text in the previews.  I have tried creating a scan profile, but it will only apply to the page I am looking at in the preview.  The only solution I have found is to manually un-crop every page back 8.5" X 11" by dragging the borders or applying a profile to each page, which is obviously not a very good use of my time. Is there any way to get my scanning software to never crop the documents unless I tell it to?  Or maybe is there any other software that I can use with my scanner that will work better for me?

Re: Automatic Cropping...

Before turning off the autocrop feature, reset the software to the default setting. Then turn off the autocrop feature. Some scanning software need to be reset to the original default condition and accept software switches only then!

HP 8270 does not scan on windows Vista . Could not complete scan is the error message

Make sure you have the newest vista drivers located here - also, make sure that the scanner platen is travelling the full length of the scanner, it's not being hung up somewhere causing it to jam. Try to scan while the cover is open to watch the scanner head travel.

Pages scanned are backwards (read right to left and all letters are if holding up to the light and trying to read from the backside)

Pls check if the 'mirror' option is on in the software setting. The scanner 'reads' normal way always.

Problem scanning multi page document

You do not say which software you are using but if you can afford PixEdit you can save to multipage tiff, Pdfs and so on. Also combine singlepage and mulitpage documents to one mulitpage and vice verca.

HP ScanJet 5590 automatic feeder not working

Have you tried scanning in the flat bed mode? Does it scan okay? If the image is good, then there is no problem with scan module. Check your page settings. If the page size selected for scanning is smaller than actual size, there can be some peoblems. Try and scan with max size. Check if the sensors are dust/paper free. A small piece of paper (The small round discarded piece from Computer stationery) in the paper sensor can create trouble.

How do I scan colored paper and still read print? HP Scanjet 8270

First thing to try is just play with all the scan settings to see what gives you the best result - try changing resolutions, type of document, type of output document, contrast, brightness, type of scan. If this doesn't give you any better results, then one of the best ways to do this is to get some plastic sheet of the same or almost the same as the predominant colour on your forms (you can go one step further and make a multi coloured filter if you are feeling creative and your forms are all identical). The text jumps out of the page and most scanners will give you a good scan - just make sure the filter is not too thick/dark. Hope this helps :)
