My Hotpoint Aquarius TVM570 started making a funny noise then cut out... I changed the fuse to see if it was that but no luck. You can turn the timer but as soon as you press 'start' it just trips...

if you check this link it shows the basics for getting in the dryer ,, after that , you may have to remove the vent tube inside ,, you will see a fan attached to the back of the motor, your missing Rib could be rubbing against that or possibly even the drum as it turns,, be sure and unplug the machine anytime you remove the back

My hotpoint aquarius tumble drier is making a very lound griding sound as it turns. What can it be and can it be repaired by myself? the drier is over 8years old is it time for a new one?

This is the plastic "wheel" on the motor that drags the drive belt to spin the dryer. you will need to push back into place with something thin. under the right hand side of the dryer there will be a grill under the motor. look for a black plastic "wheel" and move it away from the casing with something that can fit through the grill.

Hotpoint aquarius tdc32 condenser dryer keeps cutting/tripping out after 5 minutes usage. Press the start button immediately after and won't start. Have to give it 10 minutes or so before starts up....

It may be necessary to clean the condenser unit/module (heat exchanger). Often lint would accumulate reducing the efficiency of the condenser causing the temperature internally to rise above specs. Thermal cutoff senses and trips the unit.

In some instances, it could be the thermal sensor/thermostat. I think your particular model has two of them. To gain access inside, it would be required to remove 2~3 panelings. A continuity tester is needed to check the thermostats.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
