I just installed one of these; the directions were not really helpful, and I'm fairly handy doing these things. Anyway, the 'specs' say this is 2 sones, and mine is pretty quiet. I did have to tighten the acorn nut that is under the light bulb, that holds the light fixture to the rest of the unit pretty tight. My noise was coming from vibration, not the fan 'noise'.
You can buy a replacement motor assembly for that model. http://vacuums-intercoms.centralvacuumstores.com/search?w=8663rmsa&af=type%3Aproduct&asug=&x=0&y=0
It sounds like the fan blade may be loose on the motor shaft. You can purchase a new motor for this fan online.

contact nutone. the problem is that the sensor that shuts off the unit to prevent overheating is too sensitive or faulty. nutone website seems geared towards selling their product so you may have to call them direct at 1-888-336-6157. this is customer support. good luck.6-6157
It should be black, white, red and green. Black and white are your hot and neutral legs, green is your ground, and red is your heat leg, heat and light should be controlled on seperate switches, both 110 i believe
