Any how I was working online then logged off, come back and could not connect, the computer said I had no dial tone, I checked the line by plugging a phone into it and there was a dial tone, I tried everything in the help menu but nothing seemed to work, all the other computers in the house are working just fine on the same line and internet connection, please help.

HP Pavilion Laptop running on Windows Vista..

You need to download the modem driver from your parents desktop or any other computer that has Internet access. Then copy the downloaded file to a storage device and install it on your computer from the storage device, after you booted up your computer.

You need to download the drivers from the Compaq/HP WEB support/download page. Make sure you select your model laptop and the XP Windows version of the drivers you require and install them.

Wireless Router Randomly Disconnects

I am having this problem as well, however my connection goes from 56M down to 1M and I cant connect to anything. I previously thought it was my router but none of my other systems experience it. If you know someone with an external Wireless card I'd suggest trying that before purchasing one. I dont believe anyone can fix an internal wireless card that goes bad. Try downloading the latest drivers for your PC/LAPTOP's wireless device and reload it.

Hp pavilion dv6000

I have an HP Pavillion dv9000, but they are similar.

Now if you are moving the Wireless switch on and off and the light stays red on both sides you probably have a dud of a wireless card. I had the same issue with mine at one point, what I did was get a hold of tech support, they mailed me a box with a prepaid shipping label to send them my laptop. They put in a new wireless card and shipped it back for free(of course it was still under warranty).

If you recently purchased this laptop you can usually log onto www.HP.com, go to the support section and do the chat with an HP tech or call 800-HP invent or 800-474-6836 24/7 and they will walk you thru the whole process.

But again just from your description, you have a dead air card. Call or online hp and have them fix it for you, especially if its still under warranty. If its not under warranty, then hit me back and i can give you a step by step on how to open up the laptop yourself and replace the card

Hp z558

This sounds like a poor put together pc. If the DVD drive does not eject then either the dvd is faulty or the IDE cable and/or IDE1 connector on motherboard is not installed, try ejecting through my computer(right click on drive then Eject), if this works the button is faulty. The same goes for the TV Tuner card, again possibly a corrupt or non installed driver, try re installing mother board drivers and card drivers. This really needs to be returned as the pc is not fit for it's use.
