2005 Grand Cherokee Limited check engine light comes on...

My check engine light is on... It seems when I fill up the gas tank it goes off for a day or so but comes back on. The SUV seems to run fine with no other problems.. Any Ideas?

I had the same issue and had to replace my gas cap. It was leaking pressure internally and causing a check engine light.

Everytime I don't get the gas cap shut tight the check engine light comes on So I make sure I turn the cap three times and
I have never had it come on again.

How do I fix my 2000 jeep grand Cherokee? my electrical is messed up. I have a 2000 jeep grand Cherokee and my gas Gage goes from i have a quoter tank in my jeep so it goes from a quoter tank to empt

all the same day? check all fuses first. as always for electrical.
is only the fuel gauge and only the windows failing , all windows failing and at all locations.. sounds to me this is cumulative failures not all at once, right?
check the fuses. then again
the best fuse test is with a volt meter , key on, 12vdc on both sides, not 0volts.
send best is to check them for 0 ohms (not infinity ) pulled.

fuses that look bad are bad.
fuses that look good can in fact have hair line cracks a human can not see.
tell more, get more. I have full doc;s on jeeps.

1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0 Limited started up the other day (and all last winter) no prob. I tried to start again and it will not catch. I am getting no spark to the coil. The interiors come on and then...

If you happen to narrow the problem to the ecu, the only parts in the ecu that need to be changed are the three power capacitors, which cost under $5. They supply power to the fuel pump relay and the ignition system relays. Jeep won't start if those caps are bad. Also, the check engine light will not illuminate while the caps are not functioning. As soon as the caps start to function, the check engine light will light up and the jeep should start. Good luck.

2005 altima, check engine light came on....mechanic said it was the crank shaft sensor...replace both of them......light comes back on a week later, then goes out, then comes back on....seems like whenever...

obviously not a mechanic
with bad sensors you would have starting and noticeable engine running problems
have the fault codes read by an accredited service center and check the EVAP system

Check engine light indicator is on...after total

Obviously you have something above the tank that's leaking. That will result in a code the same as a bad or loose gas cap. At this point, the only way you can find the source is to take a good look at everything, even if it means dropping the tank to do that. (better than wasting fuel or having a fire start under there).

The engine light comes on. When the gas tank is

Most likely an EVAP code. Need to scan it to get the specifics.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Service engine light soon on

A loose gas cap will sometimes trigger the service light to come on.  Since this appears to have happened on multiple occasions I can assume that this is not the problem but may be associated with it.  The level of gas in the tank affects the amount of atmospheric pressure in the tank. There are multiple things that could set off the light, one being a loose or defective gas cap, and the other is a fuel vapor return valve.  I'm not sure of the exact type of fuel system you have so I cant give a more exact answer.  If you wanted to give something a shot before bringing it into the shop, you can simply replace the gas cap first, a very cheap try.
