I just puchased a Canon Zr200 camcorder. I would like to know the process of what I will need to do, in order to transfer video from my camcorder to the computer and burn it onto a dvd cd. Any help would be great!

Re: Transfer video into dvd on computer
Well what i did was i got a ati video card that had built in video inputs (and it also had a tunner) plugged the camcorder up to it and recored what was on the camcorder on to the pc (ati came with a utility that made this possible). after the movie was on the PC i recored it to dvd with nero. I think you could also use movie maker that comes with windows xp

No. The Canon USA web site says the Canon DW-100 has a USB terminal and works with "USB 2.0 Hi-Speed (with compatible Canon camcorders only)." In other words, the Canon DW-100 burner works only with Canon's USB 2.0 camcorders. I have a Canon ZR200. The ZR200 has Firewire 400 digital video output, not USB 2.0 output. The USB port on the ZR200 is ONLY for still images. Video will not and cannot be output through the USB port on the ZR200. (Page 121 in the ZR200 manual mentions using the USB port on your camcorder for transferring still JPEG images to your computer.) You need a DVD burner with "DV Input" (also called Firewire 400 or IEEE 1394) to hook up your camcorder to burn Mini-DV tapes onto DVD. The Sony VRDMC10 Stand Alone DVD Recorder/Player has DV Input. The ZR200 camcorder did not come with a Firewire cable, but you can buy one at any electronics store or at a cheaper price online. Make sure that you get the right kind of Firewire cable, 4-pin to 4-pin or 4-pin to 6-pin, whatever the DVD burner you choose requires. (Your ZR200 has a 4-pin DV port on the camera's end.)
USB 2.0 Hi-Speed (with compatible Canon camcorders only)
First thing, clean your battery contacts, both on the battery, and on the camcorder. Make sure the battery is charged fully (measure it if you have a voltmeter). Make sure your power adapter is putting out voltage (again, measure it if you can) Try a spare battery, if you have one, to make sure the first one isn't just dead. Other than those things, you could have a faulty or broken power switch on the unit. That's about all I can think of offhand.
as for hardwarde youll need a usb or firewire but i prefer usb beause its easy to use. as for software youll need a driver and installed to recognize your device to the computer.youll need another software to edit your videos and save it whatever type of videos that you like. i prefer ulead movie maker because its user friendly and its easy to use, hope that helps1

This is the description of the feature you need:
"Have friends in far-off places? Turn your ZR200 into a Webcam for Internet Video Chat with Microsoft Windows Messenger through IEEE1394. It's all possible thanks to the DV Messenger2 software, available as a free download for ZR200 owners. DV Messenger2 allows you to control the zoom and focus of your ZR200 or the camcorder of the person you are chatting with. Preview thumbnails and transfer photos. You can even watch and control the video playback of either camcorder right from your computer."
You can download DV Messenger Version 2 only after registering with Canon, see the bottom of the following page:
I believe the drivers are included in the download.
