Question about Brother MultiFunction Center MFC-440CN All-In-One InkJet Printer
This is the same response i did for the other solution. each cartridge has on optical window the sensor uses to detect the ink level. what u do is put a piece of paper over the window and the sensor thinks the cartridge is full. this will get rid of the low ink level problem and allow u to print in black only.

First, are you using a genuine cartridge? If not, Brother is very finicky. Get one. Second, uninstall the print driver and reinstall with the latest from the Brother site.
