The first GPX HM3817DT I bought worked for about 3 days and then I started getting "Error" when I'd try and play a CD. I exchanged it for a new one and it lasted about 6 months until it started doing the same thing. The CD tries to spin up, in both directions I might add, and then you get "Error"
Is there a fix for this problem other than throwing it away and buying something else.
If it can't be made right, it shouldn't be made at all. What a waste of resources.

I had the same thing happen to mine, only after six years, After taking the top off, and looking at the inside, I realized it was the belt that had stretched out. I am still trying to find a place that sells replacement belts. I was able to get it to work by taking the belt out, cleaning it with a tissue and some rubbing alcohol, and putting it back in. you may want to look into the belt.

You can download mp3 music files from the Internet to your computer and then copy them to your MP3 player using the USB cable. For your CD collection, you need to convert your CDs to mp3 music files onto your computer or download them from the Internet and then copy them to your MP3 player after you have connected the USB cable to the MP3 player and the computer.
You can do this using Windows Media player and Rip the CDs - Media Player will create a MP3 music file for each music track. Click on this link for instruction on converting music files to mp3 file format :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r5798418-creating_transferring_mp3_music_files

Will the discs clean

It was an issue before, around 2009. The console it self wont play any disc, XBOX came up with replacing the cd drive of the console but its not the simplest way to solve the issue. As part of the escalation department then, we found out that just simply using the usb port of the console to play music or at least a media was read by the console, you can resolve the issue.
1. Plug a USB flask drive or any mobile phone via USB to the xbox.2. Play any music from the external drive (flask drive or mobile phone that is connected via USB to the xbox)3. once music is playing, insert a disc in the cd drive.4. The xbox will read the cd this time for its currently acknowledging the media part of the connection5. Then you are good to go..

What is the usb port for

hi, you can store music on a usb memory stick from your computer then plug the memory stick into your stereo then you can play your music thats on the memory on your stereo.

it just means you can copy music from your pc and play it on your stereo via a usb stick so you could copy an album onto a memory stick then plug it into your stereo then you can listen to the album in your car, you can also store dvds onto a usb stick and play them in your car its just a way of getting more info onto your dvd player giving you the chance to play things you have on your pc.
how ever some times you may have problems with certain formats and anything copied means you lose you warranty due to the fact your not using originals.

so you use these at your own risks

I own an Apple Ipod video which I bought in 2006. It worked just fine for about 9 months at which point I could not get any sound(music) from the headphones or when plugged in via the usb dock to my car...

If all your music is in iTunes, format and restore the iPod to a Mac formatted iPod in iTunes. There are some firmware updates as well, which restoring will give you, and these should help. After doing so, iTunes will copy all your music back to the ipod.

Please help

Depends on what you mean by "download." For the most part I copy songs from my CD collection to the player. Connect the player to your Windows PC via the supplied USB cable. The MP3 player will show up as another disk drive icon ( "E or "F" maybe) in My Computer. Pop a CD in your drive and copy/paste whichever songs you like from the CD to the MP3 player/drive icon. I did not find the instructions that came with the player very useful so I just muddled through on my own until I found the best way to load music to "this thing"! Drag and drop works just as well. Good luck!

I cannot charge it (USB car charger) and listen to the music at the same time

don't think it's possible. -when you charge and play via your laptop, the player is acting as a USB key and the laptop is doing the playing. -when you charge it via your in-car port you do not have a 2nd device on which to play tunes. it's either charge or play i'm afraid
