My device keeps telling me that I have entered the wrong password for my network, when I have put in the right password multiple times.

If your Linksys admin password was not changed and your router is unsecured then someone could have changed your router's settings and network password.
To reset the Linksys back to the default settings - Press and hold the pinhole RESET button at the back of therouter with the power ON for 20 secs. then release the RESET button.
To connect to your wireless router, the router's wireless settings needs to beconfigured with the SSID, encryption etc. and also the wireless cards in allthe laptops/computers needs to be configured with these router's wirelesssettings. Then the laptops/desktop computers can communicate with your wirelessrouter.
Connect a LAN cable from the Linksys to the LAN port on your computer.
Open a browser and enter the Linksys configuration URL
The default login = admin
The default PW = admin
You can protect your router by changing the default PW (write it down and putit in a safe place)
Go to the wireless configuration and set up the SSID and WPA or WPA2encryption.
Apply these settings to the wireless card in your laptop/computer.

I am using DLINK DWL-7100 Wireless AirPremier Access Point in unsecured mode. I cannot reach the logon page to enable security ( Just keeps timing out.

To secure the router, first you have to access the router through web browser (Internet Explorer) by typing the IP address of your router in the address bar, which is usually (default) The default administrative user name and password (unless you've configured otherwise, the default username is admin and bno password). If you cannot access it wirelessly, try accessing through wired connection. Otherwise, you can simply resetthe router to factory default setting, press and hold the reset button for few seconds (It is at the back of the router near the DC Power Jack). The LEDs will then blink and the routers factory settings wouls be restored.

Please note that after RESETTING THE ROUTER to defaults, ALL SETTINGS WILL BE LOST AND YOU HAVE TO RECONFIGURE IT. Generally, after hard reset you get the connectivity, however, you have to make the connection secure etc.
Please, refer the product guide/manual and make configurations as per the details provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP).

My connection is unsecure and people are downloading illegal content from the internet using my connection.

Make it secure.
Log on to the router and set your security to WGA2.
If unsure how to do this, google your model and setup for a guide

I need to stop others outside using my internet

you need to turn on password based encryption (aka security) that will turn your unsecured wireless network into a secured one.
open a browser window and then type or and enter your router settings. change settings including password. unless you've set it up differently and actually have a username and password, leave the username space blank and use "admin" as the password. that's often the default password on a linksys. linksys has a great support page. they have the drivers, manuals, the works.
your specific page for the drivers and the manual for your router which includes specific info including password, setup procedures, explanation of the various settings, how to do a hard factory reset, etc. is here - click on the download button below the picture

Why does my wireless internet only work when the network is not locked? does this mean my internet is not secure?

By not "locked" I assume you mean with security enabled. All clients connecting to your wireless access device must use the same credentials for security as your access device. Otherwise your clients will pick up and connect to any network that is unsecure.

My wireless is set on unsecured how do i change it to secured

Your wireless router should have come with software, which allows you to set a password on it. Install the software on your PC. Then run it. It should discover the router. You log in with

username: admin
password: admin

then you should be able to set the password.

Another way into the admin interface, is to type the IP address in your Internet browser if you know it (often

Unsecured wireless linksy router?

Yes you do have to set a password. If you're unsure as to what the IP address is to get into it, Go to start then to run. Type into the box that opens up cmd. This should bring you to DOS (black backround with white text) Once in there type in ipconfig then press enter on your keyboard. Usually the IP address is This should show up as your default gateway. If not then write down the numbers that are there. Then type exit and that box will disappear. Type those numbers you wrote down into your address bar and you should be into your router. Usually the user name is admin and the password is either password or admin. Once you're there click on wireless and the put the dot in WPA PSK. This way you can put your own password in but it has to be at least (eight characters in length) Once you've done that click on apply. This will take all the computer offline on your network until you type the password when you want them to connect to your network and protect you from others using your internet. I hope this helps you
