Dead battery- won't take a charge- it just blinks amber.Do I need a new battery for my Samsung 5x?

Sounds indeed like the battery is dead. You could try checking it with a volt meter. If the volt meter says it is fully charged then you have a problem with the camera instead

What coloured wires go to which contacts inside the hotshoe of a nissin di622 for nikon ?

Since the Vivitar 283 is a non-dedicated strobe, I believe the crux of your question is which wire goes to the central contact - the only one that will fire the flash. I can't tell you the color but perhaps this will be enough to get you started. Might I suggest that if you are inside the camera but not able to see the pentaprism shoe contacts, you might employ a low voltage tester or ohms meter connected to the central contact and various wires you can see on the ribbon cable or circuit board. An ohm meter between the shoe rails and the central contact should show slight needle deflection when the shutter actuates at a speed within the x-sync range. Digital meters likely cannot show the very fast make and break connection as well as analog meters.

If it's a green cast, try adjusting the output (if such a command exists). Or, if there is a toggle for PAL or NTSC. You may need to change that.

How do I get the date/timestamp to display on pictures with Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS8?

The date and time (and a lot more) are stored with every picture in its EXIF metadata. Any photo viewing/editing program should be able to display this data. To print this data, please consult the documentation for whatever program you're using to print your pictures. Depending on the program and printer you may print the date on the image, in the margins, or on the back.

What kind of film does a rokinon 3000e take

It uses standard 35mm film. You can probably find color print film at most drugstores and supermarkets. You'll also find black-and-white and color slide film at any good camera store.

What an adapter I need to connect Nikon D200 with Metz 60CT4?

Just the regular Metz pc sync cord. Connect that to the sync connector on the side of the D200. The trigger voltages are fine. Set the camera to manual, 125th of a second. Set the slider on the back of the flash to the film speed you set on the camera. Use the "auto" slider to pick the "C" setting that approximates the distance you're shooting, and read the f stop off the scale. Set that on the camera. Try a test shot or two and adjust f stop, C setting, or film speed if it needs tweaking. Slow the shutter speed if you want more ambient light in the picture. Or of course meter it with a hand held incident light meter. I just did some shooting at a local horse show. Was in the stands so couldn't meter. Took some test shots of the people setting up the ring, and adjusted so when the competitors rode out I was pretty much on.

Flashing negative sign

A few suggestions for outdoor flash too bright with SB-600.
1 - If flash is in the auto mode, try hitting the (-) symbol a few times to lower the flash output
2 - Quick fix for close shooting - pull down the diffuser. You loose about 2 stops of flash light and effect is much softer. Don't forget to raise it later or you might think you have the opposite problem
3 - On the camera side, you play with your ISO. Depending on the scene, changing ISO can increase or decrease effect of flash vs background. This can be tricky to predict in auto because the camera is doing calculations of its own.
4 - You can put the camera in aperture mode and set your apeture so that you get a good balance between flash and ambient light. The camera will adjust the shutter speed, which increases or decreases the effect of the background - while the flash remains a constant. This can be very effective in tricky lighting situations, but be prepared to take lots of test shots to get it right.
5 - You can put the flash in manual mode. That will give you a consistant fixed reduced flash output regardless of what the camera tries to change. You have to keep checking your display to see the effect, but with camera in auto this can be a winner.
6 - Finally, you can go "old school" and put both camera and flash in manual and find your best combination. When I'm pressed for time in tricky conditions I often do this by finding a good setiting for a fixed distance, and then adjusting my apeture up or down as I shoot closer or farther things. We had to do it like this back in the day, and with the histogram on the display, I can get dead on where the camera "brain" would get tricked.

Soft puches for lens and flashs

Dear Emily Baird,
My suggestion would be to look at online aution sites to find the case for sale, or contact a local camera supply store to see if they might have a case for sale that would work for your flash.
