You can try reinstalling the video driver first. Also test to see what you get when hooked up to a monitor. Same thing? probably the video dying out. got a good pic on the monitor? could possibly be loose wiring in the lid. That cable is in the back of the laptop lid connected to the LCD and the video connection on the system board. (means you need to crack it open to see) Not sure what internal converter there is in any laptop other than the power cord-block. There is an inverter located internally, but that only regulates the back light, not the color.
is the color building up in one place and fading in another, or just fading all over? if its building in 1 spot i would suggest you have a very thin hair line crack acros the screen somewhere, if its completely fading, i would suggest the LCD converter under or behind the screen under the beizel is failing, in which case you should take to a computer tech to dismantle and test

While booting up, my daughter removed the usb mouse and a green line has appeared down my screen. I have rebooted and reset the graphics several times but it wont go away.
Can anyone help get rid of it?
Is this a known problem?
The notebook is only 3 weeks old (well - bought 3 weeks ago!)
