You can refill the cartridges with ink but what they don't tell you is the cartidges can only be use 3-4 times if not less...the electronic package on the cartridge is not designed for multiple use. You may have to install all new cartidges and if the system has been corrupt, you may to uninstall and re-install the device for it to work.

Printer would not print. Says see error #1203 in users guide.

By any chance is your printer a Lexmark?

1203 Error Message indicates a problem with an ink cartridge. Can be a communication failure between the printheads (cartridges) and the printer or a short in one of the printheads.

Commonly occurrs with refilled ink cartridges and indicates the cartridge has been overfilled.

If powering off and restarting the printer does not correct the problem, to remedy, remove the ink cartridges, check for leaking or excess ink on the cartridge contacts; clean the cartridge contacts using a water dampened q-tip. See for illustrated instructions:

http://support.lexmark.com/index?page=content&id=HO2322&locale=EN&userlocale=EN_US
If the problem is with over-filled cartridges, to avoid a repeat, you may need to wick out some excess ink by placing cartridge on a damp paper towel.
If these steps do not resolve your issue or your problem is not with a Lexmark printer, please reply with the make and model number of your printer for an alternate solution.

Hi, i'm getting error message 1203 on the printer and we've lost the user's manual. Can you tell me what this is?

Error 1203 is a very interesting error code. Here is what I found out about error 1203

Error 1203 is a very interesting cartridge error. It means your cartridges overflow even from brand new cartridges after a several prints or right after you refilled the cartridges. Check to see if ink are smeared on the holder where the contact panel with the cartridge

Solution:
I use the lint free cloth(coffee filter work great) with a few drops of water to dampen and clean off those contact on the holder and my printer work again.
Then before you print anything, you should run aligned the cartridges a couple times then run clean cartridges a couple times.
Print the test page to see how it's look and way you go.
Be sure not to leave any debris of lint free cloth(coffee filter work great on those holder contact panel.

Dell all in one printer 964... Error message 1203... What does this mean? I recently had the ink refilled at Walmart. The printer did work after the ink was refilled, but now it's being very odd and will...

Hi there

Error 1203 is an issue that occurs either when a cartridge is bad or the printer cartridge Slot is bad...

1 - try cleaning the copper contacts of the both carts and cart slot in the printer and try again..
or
2 - when error shows up, shut the printers power off; wait one minute and turn it back on press copy.

Error 1203.

It's mean your catridges overflow even from brand new catridges after a several prints or right after you refilled the catridges. Check to see if ink are smeared on the holder where the contact panel with the catridge. I have the same problem which I think lexmark have a proble and overlook.
Solution:
I use the klennex with a few drops of water to dampen and clean off those contact on the holder and my printer work again.
The refill ink work very well if you let it sit 24 hrs. Then before you print anything, you should run aligned the catridges a couple times then run clean catridges a couple times.
Print the test page to see how it's look and way you go.
Be sure not to leave any debris of klennex on those holder contact panel.

Error # 1203 Cartridge Error

Have you recently refilled or replaced any of the cartridges. 1203 is usually one of two things.

1. An overfilled cartridge (fixed by wrapping in damp paper towel for a bit until excess ink wicks out)
2. Ink smeared on contacts (fixed by cleaning contacts on cartridge and on printer's cartridge housing)

Cartridge error

How I solved this problem was, I took out the color cartridge (which seem to be the one giving the error message) and worked only with the black ink (and chose print black and white )

My color ink cartridge had been refilled at Walgreens. The Black ink cartridge is an original Lexmark
