Spin Option I can't change the spin option on the display of my Maytag Neptune TL top loading washer. It has been doing that for a couple of weeks now... And when it is washing clothes, it will start beeping and changing the spin option by itself constantly. Last night, I left a load to wash before going to bed, and in the middle of the night, I heard the machine turn on and I guess finish up the loan... HOURS later....????
I have seen this problem, the electronic board (the brains) will probably need replaced.I have seen this problem, the electronic board (the brains) will probably need replaced.
This has been happening with mine for weeks, {along with 1 years worth of puddles of water on the floor.} Now the machine won't even start, can't et a repair on it for another two weeks. The problems posted by kim875 and kirsty2 all seem to be the result of faulty signals from the electronic board. This seems to be a real problem with this model machine. I would try to get board replaced under warranty , if at all possible.

The TL neptune has a small shock absorber on the middle left hand corner behind the front panel. it uses a small wiring clip that could be loose, with a type of inertia switch. A common issue I've encountered with this machine is underloading. The snubber and springs allow a fair amount of movement. Don't do a few simple items or mixed load in this machine. If these don't seem to help, let us know.
Any error codes. What happens if you start a Spin Only Cycle witht the same load? Does the times stay stuck at xx minutes in the LED display and the machine constantely starts and stops?
The more info on your problem the better.
Do you want to DIY the fix? Google this;Neptune TL Washer FAV6800AWW see the 5th post down here for general info and the Service Manual. If you want to try to DIY the repair I will help.
Maybe I can help with the Washer if it's a FA6800A/FAV9800A. Is it one of those and why do you feel you need a lid switch? Are you getting OP,OD,FL error codes to the LED display if the machine model is a FAV6800A.....Rich
If your machine is a FAV6800A to FAV9800A here is the Service Manual. If it one of those machines I suspect a possible clutch malfunction. See this postfor what is involved to do clutch maintenance or replacement.
Do you have any error codes to the display if it's a FAV6800A such as dC or uC unbalance codes. Is the wash tub banging around on Spin Cycle of the Wash Cycle? ……Rich
If the clutch fails the first thing noticed is a UC or DC error displayed and there is no drain or spin.
If you are seeing the above error and having a problem with spin and drain then the most likely cause of this is the clutch. The clutch fails to lock down the spinners and the basket is unable to go into spin and without a 90 RPM there is no drain.
Replace the clutch.

A dc error means that the clothing is not being distributed properly in the basket. This usually happens when the machine is lightly loaded. If the load seems o.k. then the problem is probably with the sensor at the side of the basket.
