Lens is stuck open while the camera is turned off.

push in on zoom when turning camera on. this is a firmware problem and camera needs to be updated.

Use a separate card reader to download your pictures.

try using compressed air gently around the lens. Having excess dirt or dust inbetween the lens cover and housing might have caused the tiny motor driving it to blow. This would lead to power failure. You might need another camera to unload the memory card. If your computer has a memory card slot that will accept your particular card I would try that, it's not easy to corrupt data on SD cards without water while it's on.
