My briggs & Stratton won't start. Changed spark plug.

check for spark is there a low oil shut off and the oil level is a little low ?

i have a chipper and it started giving lot of problems 4 yrs ago, so I got this free Pdf manual from reliable-store for free and I don't think Ive visited a mechanic or fixya for help for more than 3-4 times out of the 20 times I fixed the chipper in these 4 years

Your problem is the carburetor, it needs cleaned (at a minimum), but you may have to give it a rebuild. Make sure that you clean all the littlee holes and passages.

You may have overfilled the oil base. Make sure the unit is sitting level then measure the oil. The oil does go into the same tube as the dipstick.

I want to change the oil on my Yard Machines snow thrower with a 10hp Tecumseh engine and can't find the engine manual. What kind and how much oil should I use? Thanks - Zelmo

Zelmo use 10w30 weight oil and just put in enough to reach the full mark. In an air cooled engine I highly recommend you use Full Synthetic oil. It performs much better than conventional oil in an air cooled engine. Change the oil once a year.

Straight 30w NOT 10w-30

prefer air-cooled engine oil from mower dealers or some auto supply stores have air cooled engine oil.

You can download a PDF manual for your chipper at ( www3.sears.com ) Type your model number like this ( 247.795940 ) It will show you a parts list for it and also there will be a place that says "Manuals" click on that and it will download to your computer where you can eithewr save it or print it out or both
