Blank screen and switches off when plug in headphones

ive had my zen vision m for nearly 3 yrs. A few weeks back i noticed that after a few minutes of using the player it would switch off by itself.
it still had enough battery power.
then only one of the earphones was working. i bought a new pair thinking the old pair were faulty. But with the new pair i could still only hear through one ear piece, only if i pressed the phone jack in and held it could i hear from both of them. but after a few seconds it would switch the player off. (maybe some sort of short circuit)
then, my screen went white.
every time i switch it on it always appears white ( no lines).
however the music still functions.
do i need to replace the lcd ribbon cable and the jack?
