I am having the same problem with my phone that when I turn my phone and it says to touch the screen with the stylus it will not responed to it. What do I do?

  • PalmYa Apr 21, 2008

Yeah, I can't figure this out and it's making me angry. It says to touch the bottom right area of the screen with the stylus, so I do it. Then it says to touch the top left of the screen, so I do it, and it says "try again." And I go through this over and over and never get past it. I've tried turning it off and back on, hard restart. There's not much else I could think to do, does anyone have a solution???

My son just bought a treo 600. Same as above, the touchscreen does not respond whatsoever. Of course we got it on ebay, so there's no warranty...is it just a paperweight now, or what?

I tried everything, even heating my Palm as described here.
The only thing that really worked for me was pressing the "up" button while pressing the "Reset" button (hard reset). Luckily, I had all of my files backed up. The hard reset truly worked. Good luck to all!

It is possible that the touch screen "digitizer" is damaged. These are relatively cheap to acquire and replace.

You can try to tap on the area and slowly start making adjustments inward until the tap is registered and accepted. Once the phone allows you to pass this step, you can try to recalibrate the screen from the preferences.

A hard reset might do the trick if the phone is registering a "tap" and giving the error message. If the phone is not registering the "tap", then the digitizer needs replacing.

Volidog, you save my life, although the touch screen is not working quite right, but the phone & PDA function is OK. I can move around using buttons, no problem. At least, this can buy some time for me to look for a replacement. Thank you .....

You could try

operatingguides.com

if you need a user manual
or

servicemanuals.co.uk

if you want the schematics etc

We've used them in the past and found them very good.

Also if it is not listed then ask via the link and they
will probably be able to get it for you.

HP LaserJet M4345 - The printer display is mangled, the touch screen does not respond properly to commands. Is there a way to reset it?

Calibrate the control panel

Use the following procedure to calibrate the control panel:

1. Turn the device off.

2. Press and hold the # key and the C key.

3. Turn the device on.

4. When a small white square appears in the upper-left corner of the control-panel display, touch

the square with a stylus.

5. When a small white square appears in the lower-left corner of the control-panel display, touch

the square with a stylus.

6. Allow the device to finish the boot process.

Hope this helps.

Palm one is in trouble because of problems like this. They don't work on it but you can buy parts to try it yourself. I never had the problem myself but similar conditions. I do windows based units now.

Pen won't work on Quantum Leap Exporer Globe

ok, last night I was doing some research on my daughters leapster, its not a quantum leap, but maybe can be fixed the same way. I found out that you can "recalibrate" the machine. I used the instructions for the leapster, but here is what they said about the Quantum:

Turn the power on. Wait until you see the "Home" screen.
Find the small hole in the back of your Pixter unit above the battery compartment door. That’s the calibration hole.
Insert, push and hold the stylus in the calibration hole. Turn Pixter over so that you can see the screen. When you see two plus signs, remove the stylus from the calibration hole.
First touch the plus sign in the upper left corner with the tip of the stylus.
Then touch the plus sign in the lower right corner with the tip of the stylus.

GOOD LUCK, HOPE THIS WORKS FOR YOU, I ALMOST THREW MINE OUT TOO AND NOW IT WORKS.

Leapster with broken pen

My daughter did the same thing to the tip of her Leapster 2 stylus. I called Leap Frog at 1-800-701-5327 and was able to order a replacement stylus directly from them on credit card for $5.00 shipped.

I also took her old stylus and sanded the broken tip down with 100 grit and then 220 grit sandpaper to get rid of the sharp, cracked point and it works just fine. I figure I'll keep the sanded one as a spare in case she does something silly with it again.

Treo 600 setup problem

Try running a piece of paper around the edge of the screen. There may be was something stuck in there, pressing the screen slightly and causing it to not respond to the stylus
