I recently upgraded my windorws from vista to xp and got most of my drivers, i am only missing the sound driver and the driver for the buttons to turn up the volume and stuff. everywhere i ahve looked requires me to pay and i need a free one. the only free on i could find was just a document and settings folder and i dont know what to do with it hp pavillion dv6627ca

You need to download the drivers from the Compaq/HP WEB support/download page. Make sure you select your model laptop and the XP Windows version of the drivers you require and install them. Use this link to download the drivers

Go to www.hp.com under software and drivers enter your model. Then choose windows vista drivers even though you are running xp. There is an audio driver dated 11-07 which should work for xp.

If the VAIO has a "designed for Microsoft Vista" sticker, then it's very-likely that you won't be satisfied by running Windows XP --- you'll be missing the device-drivers for your specific hardware (network adapter, sound-card, video-card).
