Hdmi settings? When connecting the PS3 hdmi to the receiver and hdmi from receiver to my sony lcd (kdl-46v3000) it says it is displaying 1080p, but the picture is very hazy.with a pink tint at the bottom of the screen. No crisp lines. if i connect from the ps3 to the tv the pic is great. ive tried all hdmi ins and outs and checked all cables. ive set v-con to off. in the information display it says hdmi but question marks for the resolution. are there advanced setup options. any help would be great thanks Kris

Hey Kris, this might all be about different 1080 settings. Maybe Your consoles work on 1080i and the TV is 1080p.
It more sounds like your receiver has a faulty HDMI jumper, which you wont be able to fix. Here`s what i would do:
If your lcd has two HDMI inputs, use on for each the receiver and the other for the ps3...
2-For how important is to rather connect the ps3 via HDMI, for picture quality. then simply get an HDMI splitter, yes... YOull have to go and switch from receiver to ps3 whenever you want to play BUT it really sims your receiver is not going to cut it.

The pink you see is an incorrect "GAMMA" signal thats only induced by a malfunctioning software or hardware.

Is your receiver from a cable company? Try to get it replaced.

I would start there and if it wont make a difference, go with the splitter. YOu might get one at walmart, Radio Shack or ebay.

Hope it works and please feedback with results.

Good luck!!!

No signal

Try to unplug set AND a box or receiver if in line and plug back after a wait to allow units to boot up.

HDMI can be sensitive if connected with the units including the set turned on. Not likely all HDMI would fail at same time--if problem ends up being IN the set---either the board with the connections would have to be replaced or the set subjected to a reset or even a firmware upgrade.

I am trying to commect to my PS3 to an LG LCD tv which supports 1080P (Full HD). but as the game starts and when i check the TV it says 720P although the game and the TV both supports full HD. Do i need...

Hello there. There's a few possibilities. First, the obvious, do you have it set to 1080P in the Display Settings options? Secondly, are you using an HDMI cable? You need to be using HDMI to play games in full 1080P. I use the component cables (The red, green and blue ones) for my PS3 and when I'm on the XMB (that's the PS's desktop so to speak) it's displayed in 1080P but games will not play in 1080P, only 720P. Any old HDMI cable will do the trick, so don't get suckered by the price if you are going to pick up a cable!

Lag between PS3 and LCD TV

How is your PS3 connected to the TV? only HDMI?

I can help troubleshoot but tough forum to do it.

generally, go over PS3 set up and select appropriate display. Video thought HDMI and sound though optical to receiver/amp should be your ideal configuration unless everything is all sony then you can see if pass thru works with your receiver, which is where I think you are have delays.

Tough though not much info.

How do i change to 1080p on my kdl-40s5100

It automatially adjusts to the signal it is getting. You have to be connected via HDMI to a source that is putting out 1080P (Blu-Ray, Playstation, etc)

While playing MGS4, or watching DVDs in my PS3, the lower half of my LCD TV is a shade greyer than the upper half. I am running 1080p through an hdmi to my vizio 32" lcd tv that is full 1080p compatible.

1) have you tried using another hdmi cable?
2) are you sure that both ends of the hdmi cable are firmly fitted, such that there is no strain on the cable?
3) have you set the resolution to 'only 1080p'? i.e. make sure 720p and 1080i are unticked, in the Display Settings section, under System Settings in the XMB

Hope this helps,

Please leave feedback if everything is working.

Ps3 defaults to 576p when connected through onkyo 606 receiver

You have to tell the PS3 what the Okyo can do and it probably cannot do 1080P 60Hz (but can likely do 1080P 24Hz).  Try ticking more resolutions in the PS3s setup

did you uncheek the other options when choseing 1080p or it might be your receiver because you have to set that to make the picture quality as much as the ps3
