How to set duel wilson 2000 swr

with wilson antennas you don't have to need to run duals the proper way to adjust the SWR is to get an external meter like a trucker 2000 and a dummy load. you hook the dummy load to one antenna while working with the other and then switch the operation around. this way both antennas are matched seperatly yet work together.

I have just bought a new Cobra CB DX IV (i think) and truckers say i sound like garbage. I have tuned the antenna.

truckers also like it to have 300+ watts,, and don't tell them what you have and see the difference. lol

also the stock mic's are tinny sounding. trade it off for a good power mic like a cobra 75 $17.99 or any type of echo mic $35 i think.. those will make it sound like a big radio.., also check the SWR's !!!!! free at any cb shop to have them checked .. we don't charge unless it needs parts.

I have a Cobra 19 here in Northeast Brazil. I have it in my car. I can only hear an awful lot of 'skip' and voices in the distance, nothing that seems close to home. Is that because there is no-one close...

Skip is an interesting phenomenon. When it kicks in full force, it pretty much kills any chance of local talking. Especially if you are on what are called "super bowl channels" these are channels where the big boys run. From 10k watts and up. Here in the USA these channels are 6, 11, and some times 26. If you are on any of those channels, you will hear nothing but them while skip is in effect.

There could be people in your area, but when skip is going you would never know it. And even if you did hear them, how could you know with all the noise going on.

Your radio is most likely setup correctly. If you are hearing the skip, then it is working. Give it a day or two for the skip to let up and give it a try.

I'm not sure how the channels in Brazil, as in the trucker channel. Over hear all of the truckers use 19, so if you are near a major truck route, you can always hear some one on 19.

So when it gets quiet again, go on the channel that truckers in your country/area use, and see if you can hear them/talk to them.

I have acobra classic 29ltd key mike ant lights up replaced stud

First thing, you need to check your SWR, you must have a SWR meter to do this. If you are a trucker, you can get it checked at any CB shack, radio shack, etc, they will check it for free. Next, make sure the antenna driven element is clear of any metal blockage, and that it is getting a good ground at the base, don't know what kind of antenna you using, but the Wilson 1000 is a good one to use, install in midle of cab.........hope this was helpful.....

Cb radio doesn't give out any sound

You would be surprised how little people actually talk on CB radios these days. I went through similar struggles a few years ago. Unless you are in a major trucker area, the CB radio is basically silence.
Check out the weather channels (anything on the WX setting) to make sure that your radio is receiving frequencies correctly. If that doesn't work, then it is your box, but I bet that will work.
Good luck!

How do you properly set the settings for normal use on the Connex 3300

I am guessing that you are talking about getting it to talk on the FCC Citizens band. I am not too firmiliar with connex, but this will work with any radio with expaned channels.

Usually you use a frequency counter to see what frequency you are on when you are playing with the bands. If you do not have a frequency counter you can find the CB this way.

If its in a mobile, or you are not really far from a highway where big rigs travel, you can flip to channel 19 on the channel sellector then flip through the bands checking each time to see if you are on the CB 19. When you start to hear truckers or you get a radio check from a trucker your on CB 19. You can always ask the person, "this is 19 right"?

I recomend geting a frequency counter.

For the money, the Cobra 29 nw/st is just as good if not better than a Galaxy. Cobra is more durable by far. I have had 3 of these cobra's in the last 30 years. Only had to replace the last one because the tractor got hit by lightning.
Sure would not pay big money for a name.
