Gateway m6307 laptop, webcam is not functioning

Just before it boots, go to the BIOS option and set the first boot device as the DVD/CD Rom.
Place your rescue disk in the drive and re boot.

If u have a warranty, it would be better to contact the Gateway tech support. Or else u can contact any local tech.

um, well if it would be fixable, (it depends on the problem with it) you could maybe find a new mother, cheap on ebay, unless you would just like to go ahead and get a new laptop anyway

The problem could be that the keyboard is not operating correctly try to install usb keyboard and see if you can hold the function key on the bottom left and press the Scroll lock key at the top just to the right of the F12 key.

Ezra, It could be: 1. Dead battery due to faulty Charger. Check the voltage of the charger output. Replace if dead. 2. Dead battery NOT because of charger. You can check it by plugging into the wall socket. Replace if found dead. 3. Faulty power jack on the laptop. Replace it if battery is fine. 4. Faulty power on switch. Needs a replacement. 5. Fault ahead of the switch, then need a professional job.

It sounds like the power jack in the computer needs to either be adjusted or replaced. A safety pin with aboit 1/16" bent tip can be used to GENTLY pry the side contact away from the side. It will then make better contact with the plug. This is a common problem with laptops.

Remove the battery and then put it back after about 5 mins. Plug it into mains and see if that solves it. Sometimes when laptops "hang" like this-removing the battery solves it.

Make sure that it must be charged. If you are sure, there might be a problem of overheating.

If you check, there is a CPU fan. Overheating might cause thie.

Use a vacuum to cool on the fan to make it spin manually, hmmm it actually started to work after that.

Have you called Gateway? This is definitely a mother board or CPU problem, both probably caused by a slow acting fan. Gateway should replace these.
