Question about Compaq Evo D500 PC Desktop

BAD DISPLAY My PC display is experiencing problems like corrupt images, faulty animations, sometimes I can see vertical lines on the screen. On the worst case, my PC frequently stops responding and more often the screen display starts blinking or blacking out. I tried reinstalling the display driver a few times already. I already got the latest version of the driver. I put the display configuration & the hardware acceleration bar to the lowest setting & still the problems persists. Only on the windows safe mode and when I disabled the video card on the device manager properties the problems stop occuring. I think it could be the Nvidia GeForce2 MX400/400 graphics card that has problem. What should I do?

Try replacing your video card. That video card may not work with your motherboard.

No image, Just red and blue vertical line on display.

If your LCD TV or monitor has stopped working, or is displaying one of the following
symptoms, then it's a candidate for some new capacitors
- Flickering screen
- Screen image disappears after several seconds
- Dim screen
- Slow start
- Power LED on, but no picture
- Unusual colors and/or lines
The primary cause of LCD TV and monitor failure is caused by faulty capacitors. You can
examine the capacitors in your LCD TV or monitor and actually see if they are bad.
If they appear bulged on top, then they need to be replaced.
New capacitors will solve a host of problems in LCD monitors and TV's and will extend the life
of your monitor or TV by several years.
Take it to a repair shop.

Hi

Thank you for your query

The problem you are experiencing is a common inverter problem, which is connected to the screen

The inverter is responsbile for providing a crisp, bright clear picture

The Laptop will need to be booked in for the inverter to be swapped

If this has been useful please leave postive feedback/vote/testimonial - Thank You Again

Asus 1000he red vertical line in monitor will not

Hi

If you have External Monitor check by connecting it
if you get display on external monitor without line it means Display screen is Bad, if Line appears on external display as well then there is either Display driver issue or motherboard problem.

Vertical lines

Unfortunately you have a bad display. There isn't any way to repair the display itself when these problems occur, but it can be replaced. Usually it costs almost as much to replace a laptop display as it does to replace the laptop, though. You might try an internet search for a replacement screen; there are a good number of sources. You might also check ebay or craigslist. You can sometimes find a dead unit you can get the display from.

FAULTY VIDEO CARD

If it is a AGP card it is not possible that the graphics card can make the keyboard and mouse not respond.
If it is a PCI card there is a chance that it can do what you mentioned.
Also it could be the size of the graphics card, a 512 mg card can sometimes need a 500W power supply so you could get your power supply diagnosed as well.
Hope this helps

Nvidia GeForce2 MX400/400

I have the same card....and my PC stops responding from mouse movements sometimes, but not anymore. I found that if I always use the HIBERNATE feature of Windows, that my video problems vanish, so I think the problem is related to video RAM, but not sure, because virtual memory caching plays a large role during wake from hibernate. Also ensure that BIOS video settings are not too extreme, go with the normal or default video settings.
