Acer AL2416WBSD screen problems

I have had the monitor since September and all was working very well up until 3 weeks ago. Now, when I turn it on - after about 2-3 minutes - the screen starts to "solarize". By that I mean you can still see icons, view images - but everything has multiple iridescent colors coming and going all over the screen. After 5-10 or 12 minutes (the time has been lengthening over the last few weeks) everything goes to normal and stays that way. Unfortunately, it starts again everytime I turn it on.

SOURCE: monitor keeps going blank at start up

This looks to be a power supply fault - the inverters for the backlights are built into the power supply (Delta Electronics, model no. ADP-40AF).

SOURCE: ACER LCD monitor no image, appears white color only

Quickly go to the Acer website and check FAQ's and while there also find out how to get an RMA to return it. My guess is you have a bad monitor. At $200 roughly for a replacement I would hustle. I am assuming you got nothing but a white screen but did get video on your TV.

SOURCE: monitor wont stay on- blue light is on. but screen keeps going blank.

Have you tried the monitor on another computer? If so, and it works, the issue is with your graphics settings on your computer. LCD and plasma based monitors often come with a protection circuit that disables the monitor if the synch or refresh rate are beyond it's capabilities. this is to protect your monitor from damage.

Do not exceed your monitor's max resolution.
Resolution is determined the following way:

Width x Height @ Refresh Rate
For your model:

  • Max Resolution 1440 x 900 @ 75Hz
More detailed information about your monitor can be found HERE. If your monitor is still under warranty, and you find it to be faulty, you may be able to send it to the manufacturer for repairs.

SOURCE: ACER AL1914 LCD Monitor goes black but green light stays on

The monitor is doing a self test a finding an error.
The lcd has three parts, the screen plate(windows)/the logic(vga)/the inverter(power plug). Parts that go are the backlight ccfl's, behind the plate, and parts of the inverter, ie capacitors, all three take a bit of power from the inverter. The self test check that all the lights are ok and the inverter is ok, else it switchs off, ie if 3/4 light work it will switch off(my own case), hence the on chech error then off, However sometime there are stages of on/off ie on/ but no screen display, if that is the case the following may be of help...if you put bright light at an angle close to lcd can you see a windows shadow, text icons etc, ie still logic power passing, then .... (from a.n. other) after two weeks searching I finally find doctor living stone more fun with paulbtorrent
the takening the case bit off is like opening your wallet a second time after buying a new LCD, but you must! smallest two screw driver's flat headed, practice using two pennies stuck together()with your fingers after, one little () move and inch and {} again, with the case , it does not break, just need to lever open
[once open you realize they somehow put that old briefcase clip inside!] also note the bright light test to do first to see if can see a windows screen , and that capacitors are one for a number of things that a make a inverter work! there a transistors as well, given that however, to replace all the capacitors on my inverter, was 11 capacitors, cost me $11 (uk ebay) and already had the iron and solder. So only cost me me $11 to try and see but no luck , still fun and I still can see the screen for 2 sec' at a time plus I have a spare set of caps now in the event that the new one do go burst! you have to laugh really, what next , a new on/off button, as you work though the whole inverter mmmMMMMmmmMMMMmmmMMMMTim Berners-leeMMMMMmmmmMMMMMmmmmcome back all is not wellMMMMMMMMMMnnnnnnweek later land sight mmmmmMMMMMMMMMmmmmgggggggg(from
another a.n other)Generally, if the screen went out quickly, it was the inverter. If it went out over a slow period of time (flickering etc..) I would bet it is the lamp.replaceing the lamp should be pretty challenging. as that requires complete breakdown of your LCD, extraction of your dead lamp, and soldering in your new lamp... but I would like to say that I it did this after realizing it's 2 x kitchen strips inside [========] with wires that can connect back to the inverter with out any desoldering(ie kit assembly/dis) with the outter case remove (glass plate safe away) I could reconnect and see that 3/4 were working (i!i hardcard ) cause the inverter to switch off after a secound ! order bult and replace and going
to cheap and see if I can get away with fitting a 15" in my 19' as it a 1/3 of the price ! the market as drop out there, hope the inverter does not miss the length, or the screen out put. OR MONITOR

SOURCE: Acer monitor won't stay on

That looks like an inverter problem. If the monitor is still under warranty, contact the manufacturer (3 years for both parts and labor if purchased new). Otherwise, open up the back of the monitor and remove the shielding. Look for scorch marks, soot or leaking or bulging capacitors (look like cylinders on tripods). You could just replace the capacitors and the resistor that acted as a fuse. However, for $50-150, depending on the inverter, you can replace the entire part (unplug the wires for the backlight(s) and other connections and swap them).
You can also check the inverter by looking for the high frequency EM put out by the unit. Some high end multimeters will measure this (as will an oscilliscope). Hold the multimeter probes a fraction of an inch apart about an inch above the board (with the multimeter set to read frequency). If the inverter is good (and the frequency is reasonably close to the multimeter's range) you will see either a 1 or a value (kHz). If the inverter is bad or too far out of range, you will see a result near zero.

Once you have the monitor open, record the part number on the board with the damage, including the REV number if any. Search that part online ( and other sites have parts for monitors). Get the correct unit if possible. Some sites sell universal inverters and those can be used. However, you may find the controls reversed (up to lower brightness).

I hope this helps.

(a backlight issue would have resulted in a slow fading of the image or the screen looking red/pink.)

SOURCE: Suddenly my acer X223W lcd monitor goes blank and

This model AL2017 20" Acer monitor is known for having a bad power inverter board. The capacitors go bad, which causes the backlight to completely stop working or flicker intermittently. If you feel like you are electronically and mechanically inclined the board is easily replaced. Search ebay for AL2017Power Board -- its about 15 bucks plus shipping. If you are super inclined to do so, you can replace the bad capacitors on the board yourself. Look for the capacitors with the bulging tops. I replaced the 220uf and 1000uf caps on the right side of the board. My monitor now works great and it only took an hour or so and 2 dollars worth of capacitors.

It's probally the inverter board that drives the backlight in your monitor is failing causing the digital board to reset. I think Acer has a 3 yr warranty. If the monitor is less than 3 years, I would call them and ask them to repair it. They will fix it for free if it less than 3 yrs old, it will only cost to you is shipping it to TX. Hope this helps.

LCD Screen blank

The picture board on your monitor is bad, since the power led or button is on, it means the picture board of your monitor has developed fault.

The best thing for you to do now is to take the monitor to a local repairer within your vicinity to help with the replacement of the picture board because the fault is not something you can fix yourself, in order not to complicate issues.

Take care.

My Acer LCD AL1711 went off after seconds of turning on.

This monitor has "back lights" that are essentially like flourescent lights. These are high voltage lights and can easily fail. since you are getting some light initially, I would suspect a defective part that heats up a bit right away and then fails. I would try to replace the entire backlight board. This is the small board on the side (usually).
