I have a Philips plasma 42'' TV (Model#42PF9630A/37) which worked perfectly fine when I turned it off one night and when I turned it on the next day, the picture was all dostorted with hundreds of black lines going across the screen and bizarre groupings of what looks like confetti in all different colors swirling around in various ever changing shapes all over the screen. I've tried unplugging the set, turning off the ambient lighting, and a host menu options to reset or adjust the picture and such. All with no change to the problem. I'm sorry the description is so vague, but it is very difficult to describe. Please advise.

- Updated the firmware which unfortunately didn't correct the problem. Was wondering if forwarding a picture of the screen would be helpful? Are replacement boards (if determined to be bad) readily available from Philips or is there a better source?
I would first check if there is an available firmware upgrade for your model .Upgrade requires you to download firmware from philips website. Then transfer it to a memory stick .Then use a memory stick reader to plug into tv for firmware upgrade.Other wise the set would probably need repair .Possible a bad SSB board or another issue

The picture just goes off but the sound is still on. If you turn it off for a few minutes it corrects itself - any thoughts? We previously had problems with the TV getting "stuck" on non-programmed channels - you would have to completely unplug to reset - this appears to be different
