It sounds like a convergence problem; this set(ws-55809) uses two STK-392-570 convergence chips; they and any of the several 3.9 ohm resistors right in front of them that are discolored (they will appear white in the middle) need to be replaced and then the set adjusted.
FYI: you can buy the two chips on Ebay for about 14 dollars plus shipping.
I do not know what level of skill you have so if you cannot do this yourself---This is the slow time of year for TV repair shops---shop around and get someone who can do the repair in your home---I have done hundreds of them and it usually takes about an hour in the home.
Most shops charge 300-400 for this repair; whoever you get make sure they replace BOTH of the chips!
If you have some technical ability let me know: I have step by step detailed instructions for replacing these in this set that I can post here or email to you.
If you have any questions or need help contact me here.
I do this here for free so if this has been helpful give me a vote here.

I have a 2004 Mitsubishi HD1080 Series 60'' widescreen, model WS-65315. I purchased a new Insignia surrond sound amp, mode lNS-R5101HP.I cant get the menu, for the amp,to show up on the tv. I am using HDMI cables, with an adapter for the DVI on the tv. I also have connected a Dish Network sattelite recvr and a PS3 wich both showed a picture thru the rcvr to the TV, but no sound.
