Lens goes in and out four times then ask to turn power off and on

Option 1:

Try Initializing the Camera as follow; Initializing the Camera will reset the settings of the Camera to the factory settings including date and time. It will not delete any data saved in the Camera.

1. Touch the HOME and select the SETTINGS menu in the Camera.

2. Now, please select the MAIN settings menu.

3. Then select the INITIALIZE option under the MAIN Settings 1 menu.

Option 2:

If issue persists try Power reset the Camera by removing the battery from the Camera and inserting it after 1 minute.

Option 3:

If the issue still persists then Service may requires to resolve it.

SAME PROBLEM SOME MODEL WE SHOULDNOT HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS IS THERE ANOTHER WAY??? CAMERA LENS GOES IN AND OUT AND SAYAS TURN OFF AND ON AGAIN

I too am having the samej problem. Just started 2 days ago. I tried all of the suggested fixes and even chatted live with a someone at the sony site. Suggested i send it in for repair. Flat rate repair is $91 + tax. Guess I should start looking for another camera. Any ideas out there?

This camera is a piece of junk. We have the same problem. No more Sony for me!!!
