How do I load this Stanley Staple Shooter Light Duty?

How do I load this thing?  I open up the part where the staples go and I close it and they fall out the back, over and over.  What am I doing wrong?

This doesn't load like normal staple guns. Go to the end of the stapler and pull out the locking device with the spring on it. Then turn the staple gun upside down so you're looking at the bottom of the gun. See, there is now a little channel exposed. Drop the staples in this little channel with the points of the staples pointing towards you. Keep the staple gun upside down and reinsert the locking device which will compress the staples. PRESTO! Ready to use.

The other two replies are right about how to load the staple gun. It took me 2 days to try and figure it out myself till I read these myself (tool101 and william darter's). When you pull the clip out I was convinced you have to load them in there above where that black spring is on the slide lock that you pull out (as they seem to fit there) but no, you do have to turn it upside down to where the place where the staples shoot out is facing you and then load the staples into that space that you now see in front of you by placing the staples in upside down (pointy ends facing you). Then just slide the slide lock back over the staples you just placed in. I had to push down and then up on the clip to lock mine in all the way but some might lock in on their own (not sure).

How do I load the stapler?

No you don't. We answer most things here.

If the stapler is like any of these

You push the back in slightly to unlatch it and then drop it down a bit and the staple pusher comes out completely.

There are 4 staplers in the Stanley SharpShooter family. You drop the staples on top of the "slide out loader," then slide it into the gun. See models and staple sizes below:

I have a stanley heavy duty stapler TC110. When I put my staples in, they don't seem to be catching. There is some black part sticking out of the end where the staples should come out. It looks like...

The staples load on the underside of the stapler.
Step 1 Push down and retract the stapler pushup mechanism.
Step 2 Position the stapler so that the moving hammer handle is down
and the staple exit is up
Step 3 Load the staples into the chamber on the bottom with the points up.
Step 4 Push the pushup mechanism into the locked position until it latches, you will feel the spring resistance as the staples are pushed into place.

How do i open the stanley tr110 staple gun to load the staples

Angelbabie...Like most things, it's pretty easy if you know how.

1.Release the loading latch located on the back end of the staple gun by pinching it with your thumb in a downward motion. This will release the catch and allow you to pull the loading slide out.

2.Hold the gun upside down (so the staple don't fall out) and place a stick of staples in the bottom of the channel which will be exposed once you pull back the loading slide.

3.Push the slide back in and make sure the latch is engaged. All good to go!

Happy stapling.

Are you loading it correctly? It took me awhile to figure it out myself. It should work fine from there.

Stanley TR70 Manual Stapler won't accept Arrow 1/4" staples

It sounds like you have a light duty stapler and are trying to use heavy duty staples. 1/4" refers to the length of the legs not the thickness of the actual staple. You probably just need light duty staples.
