It depends on what the problem is, is it not booting at all? Is your windows initializing, or is your HDD bad?

Hi,
Restart you system then while your system is rebooting Press Alt+F10 repeatedly this should bring you to the Acer recovery screen If this doesn't occur try it again you may have missed the cue. When the recovery screen appears select "restore to factory defaults". Before you do this remember to back up all your important files. This will wipe everything out except the factory installed programs so yes you will need to reinstall all your extra programs. A good idea is to back up all your documents, pictures, music etc to a CD/DVD or external hard drive before you start the recovery process.

Good Luck

Nothing appears on desktop computer ..says hard drive problem and go to trouble shooter..i do not have disc or manual ...can u advise?

If there is a problem with the hardrive you need to able to run chkdsk this checks the disks for any problems and recovers any lost file files through the windows i386 file. to do this you will have create a startup disk at this site:

http://www.nu2.nu/bootcd/

Scroll down and you will find write ups on how to make a start up cd-rom, you will probably need a cd-rom that reads ntfs, you should find one here.
ensure the pc with the problem is set up to boot from the cd-rom drive.

You can find chkdsk program on windows, so use another pc to download the chkdsk program goto start bar and click search for files and folder and enter chkdsk into the search bar, once found, copy and paste it to your desktop for easy access, follow the onsite tutorials on how to make a boot disk and then add the chkdsk disk program to it and burn it to a cd-r disk, insert it into your cd-rom drive and boot the mechine.

On the command prompt just type in chkdsk c: /f and it will do the rest, once done take the cd out of the cd-rom and reboot the pc, it should now be up and running again, post back if you have any problems and i will try to help out with them, good luck.

Acer apspire one--set up without a cd rom drive???

On most Acer laptops , you can run an eRcovery:
Acer eRecovery
At the Acer splash screen, you can press Alt and F10 (at the same time you would press F2 to enter the BIOS) to bring up a DOS style version of eRecovery.
· The unit is able to reload Windows from this mode faster then from CD.
· The password by default is 000000 (6 zeros) and it is displayed when you are asked for the password.
· Users are able to change the password in this mode for eRecovery only.
· The system can recover from the hidden image on the hard drive (PQService partition) or from CD/DVD media.
· It is possible to reload from the factory style CDs/DVD or the snapshots that the Windows version of eRecovery creates.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Lost admistrator password

There are 2 options if you have forgotten the password.

1)Turn the PC Off.

2)Now, as soons as you push power buttin to turn it ON, keep tapping F8 key

3)Select safe mode and enter.

4)Click on the adminstrator user and try to log in without typing any password.

If you are able to log in great otherwise Windows needs to un-installed and re-installed.
