What type of protection do you have on the wlan? MAC address filtering? Encryption?

in your router settings, when you set up your network, you have the option to have a "hidden "network, or one that will show up on the list of available networks. Go into your settings for your router, delete that location, and start a new one, only choose a different option. WEP, or WPA2
