Question about Office Equipment & Supplies
Printer won't let me print . The window says that the printhead missing not installed correctly or has come loose. It says that it has to be removed and reinstalled but I don't know how to remove it. I have been using the printer every day and it has been fine but when i turned it on to day this is what it told me and it won't do any thing. Can you help? Al
Kodak website has instruction manual that you can download. It tells you how to remove and reinstall the printhead. Basically you remove the ink tanks first by pressing the lever at the front and angling them upward. Once both the inks are out you press on a lever on the upper left side of the printhead (the black thing the ink cartridges were resting in). That lets the printhead come out. Now the tricky part is to get it back in. You put the printhead back in until it clicks and then gently put in the ink cartridges. I say gently because if you press too hard you may cause the printhead to become loose which means you will have to start over again. Everything "clicks" when it is in correctly.

Sorry guys, I gave up on this lovely looking machine. No good looking nice if it doesn't do the job! Bought one, set it up and within one print I got printhead error message, missing or loose. Spent hours trying to solve it. No joy. Took it back, swapped it in the store for another and guess what...same problem after 2 prints. Kodak Support said do a firmware upgrade, that'll definately sort it out. It didn't!!! It took hours to do as the machine shuts off in error mode - not easy to get around this problem. I contacted them again once the firmware was finally done and they said they'de send a new printhead. I said, no thanks it's my second new machine, I'm off to get my money back!
When I took it back the second time, the guy at the store apologised, saying every one sold in the past month had now been returned. Sounds like quite a problem when you read the above and do searches elsewhere, judging by the comments from people with this same issue! Why oh why is there nothing about this problem on Kodaks web site support either?

Same thing here everybody.Sounded like a great deal until I got it home and received the printhead missing, installed incorectly error message.Took it apart aboutt 20 times, shut it off, unplugged it.I called Kodak and the tech had me do what I already tried 20 times before. He did have me hold the photo and copy button at the same time( he said this would reset it) to no avail.I asked if others had the same problem in which he denied . So off to Sams I go and try again with another printer.

Sales lady at Sams Club showed me the 5300. We need to send out pictures for Christmas and this looked great. Just $99.76 and the cost of print cartridges was less than half of other printers. This should pay for itself very quickly. Got two, one for house and the other for a gift or maybe the office.
CAREFULLY followed all instructions and slowly put all the parts in place. Printed the calibration sheet, put it in tray to scan, push start and BAM Error Code 6203 shows on display. Error code 6203 is not in any of the documentation. Error code 6203 is not in the Kodak Knowledge Base or avalable anywhere in their support website. I suspected a problem with the Scanner.
So used Google and found this site with all these complaints for the 5300.
I should have known, inside the box is a paper with a big red stop sign that says DO NOT RETURN TO THE STORE, call Kodak technical support. What is the name of the comedian that says "Here's Your Sign" Bill Engvall?
Well I feel like a dope for not seeing it. As a consumer, it sure looks like Kodak is dumping this product at fire sale prices on trusting people. Then we spend time, energy and frustration to identify, download and correct defective software. Hey I have a full time job, I am not willing to work for Kodak for free. I will not dink around with a non-functioning product that Factory already knows about. Thank goodness I did not give this as a gift or take this to the office to spend company time on Kodak's problem.
Kodak, you can fix this yourself after Sam's Club sends it back. Good luck selling it again. Hope other people read this before they purchase from Kodak.
Don't bother with sending me an email, I am gone and there's YOUR sign Kodak.

The first thing you should try is running a printhead cleaning using the kodak software or from the local user interface on the printer. from the printer press the [menu] button. press the down arrow untill Clean Printhead is highlighted. press the [OK] button. Select "Deap Clean" and press [OK]. If this does not work you can mannually clean it. You can search online for how to clean inkjet printheads. I use distilled or de-ionized water and a LINT-FREE cloth. Dont use paper towls or anthing that could leave lint behind and clogg the nozzels. when you wipe the printhead make sure you only wipe in the direction of the nozzels, with the grain. Do not use a circular motion. You want to wipe from the front to the back or back to front of the printhead. Not left to right. I hear windex works as well but i have never tried it. Do some research online and use you best judgment. If none of this works you may have to contact kodak and see about getting a new printhead, they dont sell them sepeartly.

Error code "6203" can be resolved as follows:
First, you need to open the access door of the printer and disconnect the power adapter from it.
You then need to wait for at least 30 seconds for the printer to get reset.
As a next step, you can connect the power adapter back to the printer.
You can turn on the printer, if required. Once the printer gets powered up, a message "Printer access door open" gets displayed.
Once this message gets popped up you can close the access door of the printer. get more help for Printer Error Code 6203
Hope this helps you.

Take the printer to the place you purchased it from. Throw it through the window and steal another make. Everyone will understand
