I've had that exact issue with a Kirby Diamond Edition. What has happened is that the bracket inside the machine that activates the forward and back motion of the tech drive has come out of its slot. The only way to fix this is to disassemble the machine and put it back into place.
Power Drive? If you are talking about a machine that drives forward when you push on the handle and drives in reverse when you pull on the handle, this machine does not have that feature. Platinum Collection Cyclonic Bagless Upright
Dear Sir: Download the instruction manual from Kirby, and see the section troubleshooting guide. And proceed according. If you say do not enough power. The batteries can be Not good replace or recharge very well. Or test the power cord and trafo, and see if the power is o.k or replace. Use the VOM for to test the output voltage. Another faulty can be the motor some winding inside is overheating and consequently faulty. God bless you
You might try a new belt and/or brush roll. The brush roll is what helps pull a vacuum forward, the power drive helps, but if the brush isn't turning like it should, then it will hinder forward motion. The belt may look ok, but they stretch to the point that under load they won't drive the brush roll.
This is basically the same problem with a Hoover power drive only the forward still drives albeit slowly and a slight "push" to keep it going. There has to be a common core type of drive failure !!
