This probably means that the touch pad needs replacement or there is intermittent contact to the motherboard from the touch pad. If the laptop is under warranty the manufacturer will take care of this for you in that this is a manufacturing defect. Contact the manufacturer for support on this. Usually they will attempt to assist you fully.

Usually the green means that the button is pressed. Check the touch-pad buttons for dust or dirt. If they're clean, then probably need to be repaired.

Lenovo Touch pad Stopped working

If you're positive you didn't unplug or rip anything while installing new USB ports, trying checking/updating or rolling back the drivers for the touch pad. Installing new USB ports could have mis-configured something and disabled or modified your drivers for the touch pad.

Mouse clicker buttons not working

In Control Panel there is a mouse section, you may have the clicking disabled. if you don't and it still isn't functioning then you have a bad touchpad and it will need to be replaced.

You can also test using a USB mouse to find out if you have clicking disabled.

then restart laptop

Laptop Touch Pad will not work

if you plug usb keyboard onto your laptop it will probably turn the touch pad off.
If no other keyboard is attached there is usually a switch to turn off the touch pad.
also if you attach a mouse this may disable the touchpad so you dont move the mouse pointer when you are typing

Emachines e725 Touchpad Not Working

The eMachines E725 has a built in switch to toggle the touchpad on or off by the touch of a button. Look at the button to the left of the main power switch. You'll notice the icon looks like a hand touching a rectangle - or touchpad. if this button is lit up, the touchpad is turned off. simply press the button to toggle the touchpad back on. The light on the button should now be off.
It's that simple.

The left key on my dell touchpad is not working

Hello,

that part of the touch pad is not working anymore, its faulty and you need to replace the whole touch pad.

I don't know why this is mostly common with Dell. My friend has a Dell inspirion 1501 and the touch pad has exactly the same problem as yours.

I would advice you get a USB mouse to keep you going pending the time you get the touch pad fixed.

I wish you the best of luck.

Dell latitude C840

try using the usb mouse then go into control panel>system>hardware>device manager. Click on the +sign next to touch pad or pointing devices and right click on touchpad, then click on uninstall. Reboot the computer, unplug the usb mouse and the touchpad should be picked up as new hardware and be re-installed.
