Question about Toshiba 40H80 40" Rear Projection Television
I've recently had my Toshiba 40H80 serviced. I am not happy with the job they did, because they didn't really finish it up. They fixed the original problem, which was pretty bad: red wavy lines and a wavy distorted picture, probably due to a power surge (doh!). But they didn't get the IC set up right. They told me they were unable to obtain the setup code from Toshiba for the IC they replaced, as they are not an authorized factory service provider. So I'm done fooling with them, but I'm wondering if that makes sense, and if I'll have better luck with an authorized Toshiba repair company. Do you have to enter an initial setup code when you replace an IC?
Thanks for your prompt response, sorry I haven't done the same. I had a hard time finding the service receipt, and it wasn't specific anyway. I'm not sure which IC(s) they replaced, although it should have been the main controller one, that handles the menu, etc., because my menu is different on the Theaterwide settings. They told me that they did not have the service code that sets the chip to it's proper configuration for my set, and they couldn't get it from Toshiba being as they're not a Toshiba authorized service co! Chuck's TV here in Florida. I don't know if this was incompetence, or what. They left me with a half fixed set, so it was not a satisfactory job. I've just been avoiding taking it to an authorized Toshiba service co, as they already soaked me for 600+ bucks. They said they just needed to know the proper service code to enter in to it to have everything ****** dorey...
The problem remaining is that it won't retain my brightness and contrast settings, etc.

Stomper, there are at least 6 IC`s in your set, look on the bill and tell me which one(s) they changed. What is wrong with the set now that they have fixed the initial problem ? Once you answer these 2 questions I`ll have the info I need to give you a concrete answer.
