REd background instead of black

I have a Panasonic PT-LC75U LCD projector. When I power it up the screen is red. When I go through the menu to the background it is saying that it is black but it is red. What would cause this to happen?

Thank you for your help. Any idea where to go to get this fixed or how much it may cost? I purchased this on ebay under the description that it worked perfectly. The previous owner replaced the bulb recently so I took the bulb out and found that there is a square glass lense? that the bulb projects through right in front of the bulb, that is cracked. This lense has small square markings like a piece of graph paper. Could this be the problem?
    Thanks so much.

It is low voltage in the screen driver board, probably a bad capacitor in the screen driver board or perhaps in the main power supply. The only way to tell would be to look at a schematic and measure the voltage and check the voltage source on the power supply board. If the voltage was low, replacing the board should fix your problem. If the voltage was normal at the power supply, then the screen driver board would need to be replaced. Good Luck

Yes this could be the problem. If asking for help, you really need to tell the entire story so we do not have to guess, My guess now is that since the glass is cracked, there is damage to the light engine. This would be considered shipping damage and you should check with the seller or the shipper about a damage report. A light engine for this unit will cost about 900 to 1000 bucks.

Steve, your issue is not the bulb...

Sounds like you have a problem with either a ribbon cable from your main board to red LCD panel, or a main board failure.

After a few seconds the lamp light began to blink red, its a panasonic pt-lb10svu, show no pic at all has a new lamp

Hi, Replacing the lamp in a Sharp LCD projector requires the lamp indicator to be reset. When the lamp needs to be replaced, the indicator becomes red. Resetting the counter for the lamp hours to zero will also reset the indicator to green.
  • Attach the power cord to the projector and plug it into an electrical outlet.
  • Step 2Locate the buttons on the top of the projector and simultaneously hold down the "Enter", "Menu" and "down arrow" buttons, then press the "Standby/On" button.
  • Step 3Continue holding all four buttons depressed until the lamp indicator light begins flashing green. The counter is now reset. Zero hours will now be displayed on the screen.

Failure to get a trully blank or black screen

Have never worked on a panasonic projector before I admit, but you get that effect when the 3 LCD panels inside a Sharp (and I assume all brands) LCD are misalligned. To get total black (LCD Projectors find this rather difficult due to the technology) the red , blue and green lcd pixels must be precisely allignend ( they are adjustable by technician and it's a fiddly job) I reckon the green panel is a touch out and it's peeking out between the red and blue squares.
